My insecurities or pressure to conform?

Hey all! My office has an 'open floor plan' which pretty much turns it into a call center.

They provide us pretty low grade headsets w/ mics to run our calls from. Some people use their airpods instead. It's pretty common though to get complaints from prospects about poor audio quality / connectivity / background noise

My roommate is an AV technician and recommended i just use one of his extra studio mics and attach to my desk + get a nicer pair of headphones + maybe a nicer webcam

No one else in my office has an arm/mic set up at their desk. As a young professional/salesman i'm nervous that i'll be judged poorly for adopting my own tech/tech stack to sling that data.

am i crazy??

Ditch the headset and use a mic

i would vote for secret option 3 which is to get a headset that is actually made for this.

Jabra evolve 75 is what i use and ive had little kids running around my legs, dogs barking ect and prospects never hear anything.

There is another Jabra that is newer that looks even nicer.

this is probs cheaper (although not cheap) than the set up your suggesting

I have the Evolve 75 and it is great but it hurts after continuous use for a couple of hours. AirPods are much more comfortable, however they pick up all the background noise while cancelling it out for yourself the other person will hear it all.

Oh boy
@sahil Why not add some War Room branded noise cancelling headphones to the commission store? Would be a pretty cool flex

One of my coworkers does this. He uses a mid quality dynamic mic (don't get a condenser mic! it will pick up everything) and his audio quality is fantastic.

Just make sure to use headphones for the audio so you don't echo.

Nothing is more frustrating for a prospect than unclear communication. If they can hear you better and you are clearer go for it.

Yes, Do whatever you need to do to deliver better experience to your prospects... and if you ever get questioned for disturbing the norm - Just ask one question -> "I do ____ to improve this for the company, Do you want me to fail? "
