I sell cybersecurity solutions to large enterprises.
Recently our team added and SDR. They're basically fresh out of school. Initially I was optimistic, as they seemed driven to succeed and eager to learn.
However, they've quickly adopted bad habits. Specifically they're bringing in 25+ contacts from LinkedIn (i.e. anyone with security or technology in their job title) and adding them to low quality automated sequences. The content is *really* bad and not relevant. Moreover the reliance on automation leads to mistakes (e.g. calling the company by its full legal name).
I meet with them regularly and have provided constructive feedback. Specifically: find a handful of relevant people at each account and do research to find a "hook". Then use ChatGPT or 30MPC frameworks to craft compelling personalized messages. I sent them some example emails I've used previously.
They seemed to take feedback well. Even mentioned during recent QBR how they want to slow down and be more surgical.
However the words and actions don't match.
They're still emailing 25+ contacts the same bad content.
They suggested they want to continue doing this while working the strategic angle.
Worth noting they've sent thousands of emails and have booked 0 meetings from outreach.
At this point they're just spamming my account. I'm genuinely concerned we're pissing people off and our domains are going to get blacklisted. And with such a small number of accounts I can afford to lose any.
I want to tell her to please remove all my accounts from automated sequences. They're paid on meetings booked and have no KPI metrics, so this won't ding their comp.
Is that too harsh? What would y'all do? Matter is complicated by the fact that we don't have an SDR manager at the moment.
