National Dog Day Post - Is your office dog-friendly?

It's National Dog Day! While I know many of us are still WFH, how many of you guys have offices that are dog-friendly?

So many people have gotten dogs since the beginning of this whole COVID-thing (myself included), and I'm curious about everyone's thoughts and current situation.

I'm WFH most of the time, but it's nice to get in the office with the doggo for a change of scenery.

[Obligatory picture of my puppy in the office included]

EDIT: Picture added in-line. Thanks @InQ5WeTrust for the tip!

That is a beautiful pup!

We aren't allowed to have dogs in our office but we would bring them in on Fridays anyways through a different entrance. This was until one coworker walked her dog right out the main entrance in front of a security guard who shut it all down

The most universally applicable PSAs of our time: if you ever meet someone who doesn’t like dogs, don’t do business with them. RUN in the other direction, they can’t be trusted.

Haha this is actually so reassuring.  I smile and ask to pet all the puppers, and I always assume I'm annoying to the owners.. but fuck em, because the dog rolls over and begs for belly-rubs and I am not gonna let a pupper down

I've always been the same. Used to say that I lived vicariously through other people's dogs.

In my opinion it's part and parcel of owning a puppy. Can't get anywhere fast.

And then it continues if you have a handsome/beautiful pooch that's friendly.

This little guy is the absolute sweetest dog I've ever encountered, and is interested in saying hello to everyone. I don't see that stopping.

I’m moving to Toronto in the near future, and if I recognize your pupper you can write off the rest of the afternoon

Downtown. Somewhere between waterfront, st Lawrence, king/queen west. Basically within about 4km of Nathan Phillips. Only delay is I can’t afford the down payment yet.

Lol, I’m from Vancouver. Imagine having nothing going for the city that Toronto has, and then being more expensive. I can relate

No. For reasons outlined in my comment.

its not that I don't like dogs, its that I don't trust people to appropriately care for them. They're pack animals, and humans don't understand that with dogs, having an alpha actually IMPROVES their quality of life. And that means discipline, which is extremely hard to do for our species because of our abundance of empathy and anthropomorphism. Too many become the "bitch" to their bitch and its not doing the dog any favors.

I’m gonna stand by my comment. Just because there are weak humans who apparently make dogs lives miserable doesn’t mean that dogs aren’t the goodest good. . And anyway, ain’t no bitch myself, so that’s someone else’s problem.

Unpopular opinion - leave your dog at home.

I am not a dog person. I do not want to hear or smell your beast when I am trying to focus on work. If everyone trained their pets appropriately, then I wouldn't have an issue. Very few do.

I also really dislike that everyone who owns a dog assumes that I will want to pet it or enjoy the experience of having it jump on me. And they pee on EVERYTHING.

Before you go hating on me (because I know you're thinking, "what psychopath hates dogs!?!?!?"), I love every other animal on the planet. The problem is that this one is consistently controlled by shitty humans, and that pisses me off.

Bad dogs are always caused by bad owners... or at least 99.99999999999999% of the time.

I'm sorry you've asshats ruin the best species around for you.

This guy is tethered to my desk and lies in my office doorway, under my desk, or at my feet all day.

I'll probably get a bit of down votes for this. My office is not Dog Friendly and I kinda like that. Most peoples dogs are so untrained and a big distraction in my opinion. And when I did work in an office that tried the dog friendly thing it only took so many shits on carpet before they changed that.

I love my dog when I'm working from home and I love a dog free environment when I go to the office.

That's totally fair. I know some have strong feelings, which is why I capitalized NOPE!

The shits on the carpet a very real thing. Thankfully this dude hasn't even done it on my floors at home. [God I hope I didn't just jinx that]

I'm surprised I haven't seen allergies brought up yet, tbh. My guy is hypo, or as close as you can get as no dog is truly hypoallergenic.

Working for smaller startups, absolutely.  Working for a large global company, nope.  Too many concerns about liability, allergies...

Oh well.

Now I work remotely and I have to deal with cats on the laptop and squirrels fighting over the birdseed on the deck.

My prior company had no dogs on the East Coast but was dog friendly on the West coast (go figure).

One day, we're on a Zoom call with marketing (on the West coast).

So one of the office dogs walks into the frame (glass walls in the conference room) and proceeds to take a massive dump.

We watch the whole scene unfold as a bunch of people in the hallway freak out and then scramble to clean this like a NASCAR pit crew.

Incredible teamwork.

Marketing is completely oblivious to what's going on behind them.

The content; Who knows?

It was, in my estimation, the best presentation they have ever made.
