I’m starting a new business with a partner, we are buying scarfs from a indigenous group at the verge of extinction. They make these for their community to protect themselves from the harsh conditions, but recently have gotten some attention from tourists and are now starting to sell outside their group.
The idea behind this business is to raise awareness of their harsh living conditions and expose the delicate situation they are in through a go fund me campaign, as well as giving back to the community with every scarf sold.
We had originally named the company “Nopán” which means textile in their language, but my partner thought “Nopy” would sound “cuter” and might be more appealing to consumers. Also, the “á” doesn't exist in English and other languages, which can be confusing but again it could also be a differential characteristic in a globalization market, while conserving the original word while promoting the ethnic group.
What do you warriors think? Which of the options below you like the best and why? The reason behind your choice would be very appreciated! Thanks in advance!
