New Job: Am I a Wuss For Not Wanting To Learn Salesforce?

Evaluating a new Rev Ops job and they use Salesforce.

I've not used it before [5+ years HubSpot].

To be honest, I've taken or not take jobs in the past based on if they use HubSpot. I know it inside and out, works well, just my preference. In Rev Ops, learning how to use new tech and tools are part of the gig, but I am wary as there are lots of expectations in regards to deliverables when it comes to CRMs.

Questions for those of you that have learned how to use SF:

  1. Should I suck it up and put in the time to learn it?
  2. Based on what I have heard - it's inferior to HubSpot in regards to usability - do you agree or disagree?

In all my long years of selling, Iโ€™ve only used Salesforce and never used Hubspot. However, if a great opportunity presented itself and their stack was Hubspot, Iโ€™m going to learn a new CRM and adapt. Why would I limit my options? The big โ€œbutโ€ there is that I am not the one having to configure and maintain the system.

Re comparison between the two and especially from an ops perspective, @poweredbycaffeine is the one to provide insight.

This is exactly it. This post is some serious self limiting stuff.

I can't imagine disqualifying myself from so many opportunities because I didn't want to learn.

This is a terrible post. Are you for real? If you donโ€™t know sf get back in line son. Yes learn sf. Yes know hubspot, yes know rev ops tools.

Hubspot vs SalesForce falls into the same realm. No system is perfect. You can waste time fighting it or just dive in and get to work.

You probably won't get the job if you don't know the tech and are unwilling to learn.

That being said, there's no harm in learning salesforce. It has bigger marketshare than hubspot.

You can fight back and close yourself to future better opportunities or add a new tool to the swiss army knife and become more valuable your choice

Salesforce is very user friendly, now Microsoft Dynamics is horrendous and that is where I draw the line

Always be willing to learn. Always!!

SF is a good CRM tool to be honest. I have worked on both HS and SF. Iโ€™d say a lot of similarities and each one can have a pref.

If the opportunity is good, suck it up and dive in.

Itโ€™s a great tool and I donโ€™t agree that itโ€™s inferior to HS. Always good to learn new things, itโ€™s gonna help you in long term. All the best !

I know some people are already beating you up, but this post is rough.
Don't position it as something external. Internalize it: Do you want to grow your skillset (one that is very valuable and damn near ubiquitous) in order to take advantage of an opportunity. If the answer is no, that's okay, but know that it is a mindset that will limit you for the rest of your career.

A CRM dictates your opportunity and growth? Change of mindset required my man.
