New job, windows vs Mac?

hey folks ,
at the new workplace they are starting the on-boarding prep. I have been on Mac for 10+years (don't know how to use Windows efficiently as OSX) every place I worked people always gave me a choice and I opted Mac.

now this large corp , while I like the job and it's great opportunity, they ask me to make justification for exceptional approval for macs.

have you faced this ? what did you write in justification?

in addition to usual email , office suite , I use some design tools like sketch sometime better supported on Mac but most of them have interoperable windows version now, so how do I write a compelling case for MacBook ? I know I will struggle a bit if forced to use windows.

I've only used Windows myself.

But based on what you've said, surely your familiarity with and knowledge of the OS is part of your justification. You are adept using it, will take less time to ramp up, have been successful while using it. I'm not sure it's enough, but it's worth a try and is the truth.

Well, I mean, the worst they can say is no and hand you your new windows machine. So it's worth a try. And if you do what you do in sales - speak to how you've been successful using one - you might be able to get it approved.

Also, a lot of the time the justification requirement is a required document that they rubber stamp. However, in this economy, some companies are looking at every expense with more scrutiny, so you may be faced with more challenges than usual. And you'll survive, I promise.

Just tell them the truth. You’ve worked on Macs for 10 years and are more comfortable and efficient on it. They just need to be able to defend purchasing a few macs here and there.

I personally used a Mac for like 15 years and have since just embraced the issues PC because nearly everything is browser based now and it doesn’t really matter (to me) anymore.

I had the choice and went Windows. Mac just feels weird for non-creative work for me..

I have been using Mac but I was always asked what I’d prefer as you mentioned. I would let them know about my experience using Mac which would save my X hours + learning curve time.

I've used both over the last 20 years and while I am currently on Mac, windows is not bad. But if I had a choice I'd stay on Mac.
It might be dumb but if you're forced over, just lookup some youtube videos about how to efficiently use windows for the first time.

Is the decision involving whether your getting a Mac or PC? If it’s a Mac no matter what just dual boot the shit.

I had this conversation with some friends a long time ago, and in short... If you're a Mac designer, Windows for everything else, of course the change is difficult, but I'll tell you a secret, YouTube, you'll get manuals on how to do everything!, then It is practice and habit. Good luck

At my past job we had issues with wireless headphones and using softphone diallers to make cold calls. Anybody have experience using airpods with a Macbook Pro for calls?
