Good morning folks and Happy Friday,

Figured you'll all appreciate a bit of the dysfunction that my team is running into. Sales manager wants to be cc'd on prospecting emails from the entire team that we're sending out next week.

I get wanting to ensure that we're sending out high quality emails you can see those in our CRM. This just feels like micromanagement for its own sake, I genuinely don't understand the point of making that ask for an entire team.

Anyway, I'll just BCC to play the game *even though I imagine the expectation is a public CC given "that you copy me on!"*. What micromanagement BS that still baffles you to this day?

Why would cold outreach have internal emails cc'd?

I don't know what I would make of that.

Does that mean this other dude is also going to email me?

This is NOT going to help things gain traction. And he already has visibility into the emails....

Just noticed that you clarified it's a 'bcc' later in the post.

Not as bad, but still fucking stupid micromanagement.

He's probably getting a ton of pressure from above and can't handle it/doesn't know how to lead, or manage - just micromanage.

Knowing the manager, I believe the expectation is for regular CC which I agree it is absolutely absurd. The exact wording is "that you copy me on!" I'm editing the post to reflect that for clarity.
To your point on the rationale, it could be all of what you mentioned. And that 70% of the sales org is missing quota/churn and burn HCM org.

If the problem is so big that they are insist on being cc’d I’d play the game but as a BCC only.

If things are really dire then this manager should be doing their own cold outreach as well to set the bar and understand what’s going on in the market.

Right there with you, I'd be leading from the front and leveraging my own pipeline to help the people on the team. If nothing else, it would protect manager commission checks too

Yah it’s micro management. I would ask what has happened to deserve it. Regardless I would definitely ask you SM’s boss if he’s cool with it.

All my outbound emails are automatically logged in SFDC. Anybody wants to see activity and messaging, can. Easy.
