This deal was for one company that went through a third party, which was their agency who they outsource their marketing to (AKA who will be using our tool). This made the negotiating stage of this deal an absolute headache. I actually created a post the other day about how to keep my sanity since it was moving so slow via he-said she-said style email-only negotiating with DAYS without communication.
Honestly, I had to give them what they needed to get this deal signed today and before the end of the month. They outlined it up front a few weeks ago and I fought for my company's terms (and a couple commission percentages), but to get the deal signed, I had to give in. But, it got it done.
Winning this one feels good. These last couple of weeks were hell, waiting for a response, not being too aggressive (they did get mad at me at one point), finally hearing back but them having no updates on whether my negotiated terms would work or not. It feels so good to have the anxiety of this one be over!!
Also - I finally spoke with their client for the very first time today when I sent the contract to her to sign. She was very nice and quick to respond... really wish I did this one on one with her.
Couple of learnings:
1 - Small deals (this is our minimums) are just as much work if not MORE than larger deals
2 - never ever ever ever go through third party
