Next Commission Check Ima Buy... ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ’ฐ๐Ÿ’ธ Bitcoin or NFT?

I got a fat deal I closed and I am trying to figure out what I should buy... It's the second biggest commission check I've ever got so I want to get me sumin special.

But I don't want to burn my money I want to get something semi ignorant that could potentially earn me more money.

Now that I am more versed in crypto I have stumbled into NFTs and want to buy me one. Thinking of getting one of these... current value (~25k) What do yall think?

I'd buy....

Technically in this case it is the sameโ€ฆ that NFT is a JPG so you both are right (yes backed by block chain and all that BUT the asset in this case is the image)

I can also give you my Venmo or Cashapp if you want to really burn that money...and then I can burn it for you by buying lots of carbon bits for my bike.

As soon as the hype around NFTs dies down, like it always does, there is a chance someone would still want to buy an image of a Monkey for more than you paid, but slim. So if you can time the bubbles and sell to realize the value, good for you. But until you find a buyer, itโ€™s value is essentially $0. I can take a picture of one of my turds and turn it into an NFT, and until you actually find a buyer, while your monkey has a higher perceived value based on what you were willing to pay, until you sell it that picture and my turd are effectively worth the same with $0 realized value.

Ive never been a fan of investing in volatile markets because of the un predictable nature. Sure you possible could make money, but most donโ€™t because the demand tanks and you get stuck with an asset no one wants while you hold the bag for those that got out (albeit with a FAT short term gain tax).

Spot on! It's even worse for NFT/Crypto because shady people are inflating value/demand via wash sales and self-dealing (e.g.ย  https://amycastor.com/2021/03/14/metakovan-the-mystery-beeple-art-buyer-and-his-nft-defi-scheme/)

I voted on save the cash but if you're dead set on spending it, invest it. Personally, I'm not a fan of any cryptocurrency or NFTs because anything that can lose a crazy amount of value via a tweet makes me nervous. Gold is cool, so is silver. I helped an old lady transport about 400k in gold and silver coins one time. I felt like a pirate going through all of it

My dream is to own a decent-sized ranch in Wyoming where I can hunt, hike, camp, and fish to my heart's content. So any big payout would go towards realizing that dream.

But at the end of the day it's your money, spend it wherever you'll get the most joy out of it. Be that instant joy or something you'll be glad you did in the future.ย

but if my nft triple in 6 months then I can buy 2 ranches?

Well, probably not but I get your point.

I'm personally extremely risk-averse so that's not really for me. For me, I understand that there is a possibility that it would triple in 6 months but my strategy in nearly anything is to plan for the worst and hope for the best. I don't invest any money that I'm not willing to completely lose.

Crypto remains an absolute barrel of fucking nonsense. I'll take my strong stock market gains that actually have fundamentals tied to them.

NFTs are good and there's a good project behind it. There are some serious artists that are joining the NFT game and just a hunch but keep tabs on Jason Edmiston and if Mondo will be joining the game.
