NFTs: Is this a fad? Or the future of art?

I have to admit, I'm fascinated. On the one hand: people value scarcity. If you can prove that something is a one-of-a-kind original, there's inherent value in that. Think the difference between a Tom Brady jersey you bought on NFL.com vs. the one he wore when he just won the SuperBowl. They obviously are valued differently, even if they are the "same thing."

On the other hand... it's digital. Which means copying it is as simple as hitting copy+paste. And I get it..it's not the "original." But how much does originality matter when it comes to a digital asset?

Help me, War Room.

Me too. I've been following it since last year.
Do you think it's more about "bragging rights" for the uber-rich?
The fact that Christie's and Sothebys are both getting on the wagon, I don't think it's a fad.ย

Iโ€™m very bullish on NFTโ€™s. Like you said, even if someone screenshots and copies your NFT it isnโ€™t the original. And the fact that you own the original can be verified via the blockchain. Just look at NBA top shotย
