No motivation

I have always been a top performer at my company, bad month meant that I finished 15th in the company. However, the past month and a half has been a real grind and I have been struggling to find motivation. Now we are halfway through May and I am behind pacing for quota. Plenty of external reasons I could blame with return to normalcy, industry trends ect, (and everyone is struggling this month in the company).

Normally, if I was having a slower month I would put in some extra effort, grind away some after hours cold calls, skip lunches and do whatever it takes to make a good commision check. However, I just don't want to right now, might be the WFH is finally getting to me, just looking forward to my 2 week vacation in June, or just life in general. Overall, I can admit that my mental health has seriously taken a downward turn this quarter and I can't seem to get out of this funk.

What strategies (besides just focusing on $$$) have you all used for this to keep yourself motivated? Are people in other sales roles struggling right now too?

Journal my dude.

It has changed my outlook on life, and helped me grow in both personal and professional relationships.Β

Happy to recommend one.Β

Guided journals have prompts to help you write, they ask thoughtful questions and help you reflect on both the day and future goals.

I'm not a creative write by any means, so having a "task" for my journaling makes it both challenging and rewarding.Β

I have found journaling helps - doing it in the morning and at night before bedΒ

Meditation has helped me a lot recently. Also, spending time thinking through what really makes you happy in the long term. Not short term joys like closing deals and scheduling meetings

This can help destress a lot of people - it does take practiceΒ

Therapy might be a good thing to look into.

But yes definitely I have days like these.

Company is paying for BetterHelp thru the EOY and gave it a shot as my first adulthood therapy session but the guy ended up bringing politics up in our first session and it left a bad taste in my mouth and havent tried again... might be worth it to look again though

Struggling hard and not sure what I can do either. They just gave me APAC though so hopefully that will help.Β

It’s also tough because I’m really only motivated to provide for a family I don’t even have yet. I can make a great living off the base since I’m bachelor but I know I need to step it up to be a provider one day.

I've been running into this a bit recently too. For me, it's more of a day-to-day thing rather than a consistent or growing sense of that but there's a lot of helpful tips here in this thread as well.

I like this - taking it day by day can make it seem less scaryΒ

Exercising first thing in the morning then lots of caffeine throughout the day! Gamifying work also helps. Example - every cold email you send you do 5 pushups or throwing darts between cold calls until you get from 300-0.

Motivation can be hard to find sometimes - just focus on the future and take one day at a timeΒ
