NOISE CONTROL

Being back in office is great, love it (most of the time). BUT it's like we've all lost our sense of volume control and common sense.

Currently in my office with the door shut and can hear fucking CHEWBACCA NOISES playing over the loud speaker.

Anyone else struggle with an open concept office and the constant noise? I've never had it be this much of an issue. Did WFH for a year and a half change me??? Am I lame and not fun anymore??? Is this what... adulting is???

Omfg does she just not know that the volume is coming out her computer & not into her headphones?? The obliviousness is real.

she does now after I gave her some selective hand signals (due to me being on a teams meeting also)ย

I do wonder how she just gets by most days in all fairness, thats marketing for you though heyย

Hahahaha that's awesome. Unfortunately, I can't blame the Chewbacca noises on marketing but they are the most affected by them as they have to sit next to the culprit.

I lol'd at Chewbacca noises...why bro.

My office is pretty quiet on my floor, lots of people are working from home right now and we have personal offices so I can just shut the door if people are being annoying. However, there is a guy who sitsย  below my office and he projects like a motherfucker...sounds like he's screaming into the phone whenever he's on a call. I don't get how he even has a voice left at the end of the day. I just listen to music to try and drown him out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmVXJ3hQrPo If you're curious what's been happening for 3+ minutes... They FINALLY just changed it to the Ghost Busters theme song. Classic.

I can't say much on the loudness, I feel like I scream on calls. Although people assure me I'm not.......

Are these guys ten years old?

I don't really project my voice too much, but I do pace around my office making hand gestures and disgusted faces when prospects say some dumb shit.ย

Love that you know they're guys- I'd venture to say early 20s.

My god the FACESSSSSSS, I feel that so deep in my soul.

I mean, I laugh at immature shit but I can't picture a group of women sitting together blaring Chewbacca noises at work lol. That's for the bros.

I'm so lucky I do phone sales, I'm very expressive and some of the faces I pull would get me fired.ย

Very good point & SAME. I've been told multiple times that I have "a face that can't hide your thoughts." Zoom meetings really fuck me up sometimes and couldn't win a Poker game to save my life.

THANK GOD I AM CHARMING, ya know!?

WFH made us appreciate quiet. You're fun, you just work with people who have muted social skills, lol

Apparently so, thank you for the reassurance! I think it plays into they're still busting out of being cooped up for so long. Over time, I have hopes it'll settle down. Until then, we've moved on to the Jaws & Mama Mia soundtracks interchangeably...

Respectfully let the people know they are disrupting the office and politely ask them to knock it off.ย

Worth a shot.ย

I agree, I absolutely hate the open concepts. It's all these dinosaur sales leaders who want 'a lively' salesfloor

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Stop trying to make Wolf of Wallstreet happen in our 50-100 person company!!!!

I will say, I do enjoy an open floor plan for the camaraderie but god damn, someone put some rules in place for the kids out of college.

I love the energetic and noisy environment. Yes some days it may be annoying, but when ur scheduling thereโ€™s nothing better then the office going crazy on your behalf.

My concern is the productivity when it's soooo loud? My walls were shaking earlier from the bass.

Working at a physical office is pointless unless you're having daily meetings where everyone is interacting all the time. Which doesn't happen most of the time.

Office life has to be thought over, the cubicle has to go. I love the freedom I get from working from home, why would I willingly give that up?ย

I see people doing this in shared office spaces and it drives me nuts. Some people literally have to be told how disturbing they are being.

I'm definitely someone who has lost all volume control after working from home over the last year and a half.ย  Not sure who's words will be more harsh, my gf I share a 700 sq ft apartment with (also working from home) or the coworkers I'll soon be sharing a space with again.

I know that wouldn't really work for my company. The average deal size in best vertical would be 10x the deal size of the second best vertical. Maybe it could work for other industries/companies, but would be very tough to make it even for ours

Who gets stuck with the crappy verticals? If you do it by region everyone gets a fair shake.
