They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
From the top down:
(1) Summary is crap. You need to summarize what you bring to the employer. What you have there says "I'm hiring a disgruntled employee". You literally have to say "9 years of sales experience..." Spell it out for people.

(2) What is an Account Manager for marketing sales?
(3) You give me nothing to compare your accomplishment to in Job #1. What does $360k mean? And your only real accomplishment is from nearly 10 years ago. -> add more real accomplishments
(4) No one cares what software you are proficient in -> get rid of that line.
(5) with the exception of your client list, get rid of the last 4 bullets
(6) regarding your liquor experience - what did you accomplish? Did you upsell people? What metrics were used to judge your performance? What does "Financial management + profit sharing" mean? -> why should I care?
(7) last 2 sections are good.

You don't tell me why I should call you. There is nothing compelling here - no reason to hire you. Nothing which says "I did great here and I can do great for you too".

2 - Time to elaborate
3 - Are you suggesting I mention the average for the industry? Not sure how to article I damn near sold out the magazine myself.
4 - It seemed to be a qualification in a ton of descriptions, but trusting you here internet stranger.
5 - More trust
6 - I was a bartender, this is literally my first and only sales job, but with only one position, my resume looked stupid
7 - thank you, I happen to fancy my work with Big brothers, kind of gives me something to look forward to every week

Everything on your resume needs to say "hire me". I'm sure you can drum up metrics which point to you being a good sales person - you need to put those in there. If you can't sell yourself to an employer, you won't be able to sell what they sell.

This is on the money. Resume as it stands is lame, I would reject that if I received it.

Well team I appreciate the feedback - I am diving in this evening to revamp, but its good to know I am just a shitty resume writer and not crazy. If anyone has examples they want to share, I will gladly use them to build on all this.

@Slapsnacks Hire a Resume writing service once to give you the foundation brush up on your experience and achievements. It sounds like you are not a natural write like me. Once the Professional resume writers revamp it once for you the future updates would be much easier. Its a worthy investment.

You need to tailor your resume to each role you're applying to. Yes it's a pain in the ass but it gets results.

I have been tailoring the cover letter to every position, but I can start updating the resume as well. The big hurdle I have is realizing I am not as good at sales as I thought I was. No awards, small startup, 4 people total - very much struggling to find metrics that account for anything worth while.

Nobody has ever read your cover letter. They are pointless. Just focus on a great resume and reach out to the recruiters via linkedin at companies you are applying to

100 rejection letters? What type of companies?

Your resume is pretty bleak. Pro tip - look at the adjectives and JD in the job postings you're applying for and plop those into your resume. This will help with any automated systems that are scanning your resume before you enter into the process - you may be getting filtered out.

Want to stay in sales? Drop the raised in the film industry and art school stuff, not a value add by any means. Find a top performer on LinkedIn that is proud of themselves and copy theirs with your own spin on it, no need to recreate the wheel here.

For me, I would probably remove the second role because it looks like a fancy version of barwork which has some transferable skills but it's ultimately irrelevant. The advertising sales job has a mix of highlights and red herrings. Do you know what type of job you want specifically? I f so, I would read job descriptions, identify the skills you have which will help with their needs, and adapt the resume to show them what you have. Jobalytics is a useful chrome extension for this and it's free.

Working on climate tech mainly, trying to figure out how to leverage 10 years of selling marketing to people with job descriptions including a masters in engineering. Wide open ears for any advice on how to spin it.

Honestly I don't see how you spin that. Echoing braintank, you might be better off looking at selling tech in the advertising or marketing space first and that should help bridge the gap.

Working in HR tech- can tell you applying to jobs isnโ€™t going to get you what you want. Treat it like a sale. Network, backchannel, become a social no brainer because the team youโ€™re trying to get on is familiar with you from picking their brain. Get referred in. Reach out to the hiring manager- all of the info on your resume should be on LinkedIn, resumes have become a formality- make yourself stand out.

Bro... Summary? With a summary heading too... 1995 called they want their format back.

Honestly jokes aside. I'll look at this later and give advice. Can you drop a Dropbox link so I can edit it? For real. @Slapsnacks

Go read a book called the "2 hour job search." If you apply through application portals, you're 1 out of thousands of resumes. The book basically teaches you how to approach the job hunt like outbound sales.

It seems like your most recent role was managing relationships. Make that your skill set.

Sounds dumb but aesthetics do matter with resumes. Dont look like its 2012. Add explanations for your volunteer work, along with dates unless its mostly BS. Describe what you want moving forward i.e โ€œhungry for a role in fast-paced work environment where my work ethic can thriveโ€
