Office DEBATE: Is a Hotdog ๐ŸŒญ a Sandwich ๐Ÿฅช?

Please help me solve this debate ahead of our Christmas Office Party!!!


This has been a heated argument in our office for some time and I have heard from other friends that they have had the same debate at their companies.


So I thought why not crowdsource the answer from all my fellow savages that work in offices across the country!


"The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) describes a sandwich as โ€œa meat or poultry filling between two slices of bread, a bun, or a biscuit.โ€

Technically if we go off by a piece of meat between two pieces of bread, but it's just a big NO. I mean, there are certain things that go with a hot dog and don't seem at all appetizing in a sandwich, like potato chipย  crumbsย ย (Guilty of doing it when I was a child at subway by the way) but the aesthetics simply look off, hahaha, or would you put lettuce and tomatoes on a hotdog?

Technically the hot dog isn't between 2 pieces of bread it is in a baked good made specifically for the meat and condiments being placed in/on it.

You can make the comparison to a Sub roll but you can put a variety of different things in a sub roll and some deli's cut the sub roll in half effectively making it 2 slices of bread.

Therefore a Hot Dog is not a sandwich.
