Go all in and campaign against your colleagues. You’re the best troll, the best friend, and the worst secret keeper. Don’t pull punches, throw them.

Don’t work in an office if you can help
It. I have found working remotely eliminates a ton of OP. People tend to do their job and that’s it.

Not as much as water cooler “who is going to lunch with who” politics. I’ll take wfh politics over in office politics every day is the week.

Yeah but at this a ton of people know that your boss can see what you type on slack, and therefore dont talk shit there.

Haha I agree, being remote means you gotta schedule a call with your colleagues to gossip and talk shit, which means less shit talking lol

Talk less, smile More. Don't let them know what you're against or what you're for...

1. Staying out of office politics is a good way to keep your sanity, a poor way to advance your career.

for what ever reason when office politics get real bad, who ever is perceived as the winner, always moves up.

make sure you are on the "winning side"

Always assume someone is listening or might see what you type. Once that shit is out, you can't take it back. Just always be careful what you say.

1. Shut your mouth, keep your head down. Let others speak your name.
2. Be aggressive with your numbers, that will do lots on how your peers perceive you.
3. If you hear colleagues talking shit about a coworker, think about what they may be saying about you behind your back.

The lesson that I learned is that I need to work from home. Which is what I have done for the past 10 years.

Top of the Corporate Ladder does not exist. The ladder apparently has a beginning, but no end. As you climb up, you’re given more money, more power, and more responsibilities. You never stop serving though. The higher you are, the more people you serve.

You’re an investment for the Company. Yes. You’re like a stock or a mutual fund that your company has put their money in. They’re expecting a minimum 10X return from you every year. Much more than the conventional stock or mutual fund.
want you to as well. It can get really ugly at times.

There’s No place for Emotions. Heartless ones are quite successful in corporate sales. Mastering the Poker Face is a less-known & under-utilised skill. If you show you’re happy, you’d be taken advantage of in ways you cannot even imagine comprehending.

If it ain’t on Email. it didn’t happen. You were promised a promotion in your last one-o-one and it didn’t happen? Verbal agreements mean nothing in a corporate. Your boss would conveniently forget everything when the time comes. Have it on email.

Beware of “Delegation”. Most leaders transfer their stress (responsibilities) horizontally or top-down. Corporate has a formal word it - delegation. Apparently, leaders who’re able to delegate efficiently are cherished. Don’t fall for the delegation trap.

They’re Watching. Don’t do things on an office laptop that you wouldn’t do on an office desktop. They have a record of almost every single key pressed on your laptop, every screen opened, and every website visited. Big Brother is surely watching.

Salary for Unwillingness: Don’t be shocked if you see some folks not willing to / being able to listen to you. There’s a good chance their salary depends on not understanding what you’re trying to say.

Fragile Egos: A set of employees who’ve stayed in the system for long (also ready as ancient employees) have the most fragile of egos. They’re always driven by hierarchy and not in favour of the best possible decision. Ensure you take a wise decision on how much time you want to spend on any issues which are directly related to ancient employees.
