On the Fence

I have been in my current Senior Enterprise AE role for close to 2 years. I have missed quota substantially both years (i.e. 50% of goal). Traditionally, I have been a top performer but I was put in my particular territory because it is historically our worst performing and our biggest competitor who owns the largest market share is based there.

I know my metrics and monitor all aspects from a sales standpoint (i.e. Inbound leads, self-gen, conversion rates, etc..) and it is going to take an act of god to hit quota. Additionally we have just added multiple employees to our team, meaning my slice of the pie keeps getting thinner and thinner, but quotas remain the same and demand has not changed.

I really like my team but I keep finding myself on the fence ready to move on. I am hoping some can share thoughts and advice.

Thx!

I don't see a reason why you'd stay...a good team is definitely not a good enough reason to endure a shitty territory, unachievable quota, and your earning potential decreasing.

Unless the good team is paying your mortgage itโ€™s time to go.ย

Jump.ย  ย Start looking.ย  ย Good teams don't pay the bills, and you're missing out on 25% of your OTE, if you're at 50/50, and I'd bet you're not able to get spiffs or bonus for achievement too.ย  ย One year of that can happen, but more than that, with no end in sight and a situation that looks like it's getting worse?ย  ย No reason at all to stay and grind out another bad year.ย  ย There are a large number of excellent opportunities out there and you should more than land on your feet by moving on.

I'd be out of there. You could try to ask for a new territory, but at this point it seems like it's too late for that

You're in a losing position, get out! If you get fired for not hitting quota is "the team" going to pay your bills?

If you like them so much grab TacoDeli or purple Margaritas as friends.

I totally get the want to stay and work with a good team, but unless moving up to run that team is in the future, you are just hurting yourself. The idea that a top performer still isn't delivering in a questionable territory shows a lot about the territory and to not have any relief there would get me to move on.

I would look for a new place because I'm sure I'll be in a good team in the new company where I can also make money along with others.

Yea I would explore other options. Not panning out for you currently and it doesn't seem like they will be getting better anytime soon
