Opening to a cold email... hi, hey, hello, greetings, etc.

How do you open your cold emails? For years I was a 'Hello' kinda person, but recently have converted to 'Hey'.

Do you always use the same one? Do you think it matters?

How do you start cold emails?

If I use a greeting I use "Hi." Otherwise I simply use their name.

When it's super serious I don't even bother with the name... that's when you KNOW it's gametime.ย

I use "Hi" and switch to Hey only after connecting with them and have a feel of their approach/tonality (business-like/casual)

I go with โ€˜helloโ€™ or โ€˜hiโ€™ or just their name, or no initial greeting at all.

โ€˜Greetingsโ€™ seems the most insincere of the lot to me. Iโ€™ve never been greeted with a โ€˜greetingsโ€™ face to face so it seems unnatural to me ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I think โ€˜salutationsโ€™ would be the only more absurd way to greet someone.ย

Just the first name here unless itโ€™s a close contact Iโ€™ve got a really tight relationship with.ย

I use โ€œHiโ€ for the first email in a thread. ย Subsequent emails I just use their name.

The same as Trinity, I use "Hi" and switch to Hey only after connecting with them.

Iโ€™m still building up the courage to begin an email with just the name, no greeting. What a power move! However, for now Iโ€™m sticking with โ€œHiโ€.ย

This is embarrassing but I caught myself doing Hey for men, and Hi for women which makes zero sense.....I couldn't even tell you why or what caused my brain to default that way.ย  Once I caught it I stopped and now tend to just use their names on a cold email.ย  However, if I know you already you're definitely getting a "Hey"

Salesnerd,

Finatical prospecting by Jeb Blunt says no greeting.

Salespeople from 1990-2012 had been doing that, so people are over it. It's too formal to have a greeting for someone you don't know.

Cheers,
Stinger
