Opinions- Who are the greatest communicators throughout history?

For me personally - Jesus and Socrates come to mind for their story telling abilities and influence that shaped, and developed, western and European culture. Who comes to mind when you think of iconic communicators?

In line with the Trump fans on here, I think Obama is well-spoken and seems to hold the audience captive. He's the antithesis of Trump in some ways, as he is very eloquent and uses a much more diverse vocabulary. Both reach their intended audience effectively though!

Obama is definitely a talented speaker. Very eloquent and even keeled.

I'd throw Thomas Jefferson in the mix simply for inaugurating enlightenment-era philosophy into American culture.

He wasn't the greatest orator but his ability to communicate through writing is almost unmatched in my opinion.

I mean, like him or not Trump definitely uses communication to his benefit. He certainly doesn't appeal to everyone but he did an excellent job at appealing to his voter base with very direct, often off color and very non politician way of speaking.

I have been to one if his speeches and it was amazing how he played off the crowd and told stories while speaking

I'll come out and say that I'm a Trump fan lol. I don't think the man is perfect, but I support most of what he did during his presidency. He went against the political elite and gave the everyman a voice. People give him flack for not being an everyman himself due to his wealth but forget that he made the choice to sacrifice a peaceful and wealthy retirement to go into politics to try and help regular Americans. I'll always respect him for that.

I am too. Voted for him twice. He went against so many and stood his ground, mad respect for that

I was super clear, he was an awful human being. He rose to power through his communication and ability to control a narrative

No judgement here. But yes Hitler somehow got so many to do such horrible things. A mystery we may never understand

As a WW2 buff, Germany was coming out of a depression caused from WW1, the leadership had been almost non-existent and Germany was ripe to be taken over by a new party/leader. They had tons of resources and the scientists they had were 2nd to none. Hitler rose to power by scapegoating the Jewish people as the problem and restoring economic stability to the country. Of course, there's a bunch more he did but Hitler used the power he had to empower his other leaders who carried out the most vicious crimes. All it took for them to do it was for others to be afraid to speak up and stand against them.

I'm going to say Churchill, MLK, and Gandhi due to their ability to motivate and influence generations.

Steve Jobs was really captivating on stage as well.
