They're both the same, I don't think Sales Exec is a real title there. Sounds like someone just put it on their LinkedIn. From my experience though, AE is usually a hybrid role that's in between an SDR and Field Sales Rep (at least for national/enterprise accounts). In SMB the AE is the field rep. I could be wrong though because they change their structure almost every year over there.

Having worked at Oracle typically the AE is the one carrying the bag. My guess is Sales Exec is referring to someone higher up in sales management.

That's what I thought but a recruiter reached out to me with a Sales Exec job and the job description seems like a low level AE. I could be reading it wrong I guess

The other possibility is since Oracle purchases tons of companies the title may be one that didn’t get changed.
