Outbound prospecting hack

Hello savages, curios to know, what outbound prospecting style do you still rely on for SaaS sales.

Maybe it's my region, but cold calling/ emails don't seem to be as effective anymore.

Is this the end of the road?

- Cold calling isn't as effective as it was 8 years back. Nonetheless, it isn't dead in any manner. You gotta up your cold calling game: maybe get an auto-dialer / maybe try analyzing the time of the day where pickups are max.

Pro Tip: 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 10 𝒎𝒊𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒘 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒔. 𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 10:50𝑨𝑴 𝒂𝒏𝒅 11𝑨𝑴 𝒐𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 2:50𝑷𝑴 𝒂𝒏𝒅 3:00𝑷𝑴.

- Cold emailing, if done in the traditional "me-me-me" manner (my product is this, it's the best product in the universe, please buy it) doesn't work anymore. Talk about them more, you less. See if there's a difference in your open and click rates.

Pro Tip: 𝒖𝒔𝒆 1 𝒕𝒐 3 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒔𝒖𝒃𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔. 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒑𝒚 𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒑, 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕, 𝒕𝒐-𝒕𝒉𝒆-𝒑𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒕, 𝒔𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒇𝒍𝒖𝒇𝒇, 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒔𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒊𝒍.

- Get creative to cut through the noise. GIFs are a thing today. Maybe next year, they won't be. SDRs get a lot of meetings using LinkedIn today, maybe try that. Not personally a fan, but some are going above and beyond and trying things like cold-facetiming too.

More details on your ICP, Product(s) you're selling, lead size, yada yada would be helpful for other savages who come across your post, to give you more awesome tips and tricks.

Also, welcome to the War Room @northstar!!!

Solid post and I agree. I’d add

- sales over corrected fo hyper personalize things, it doesn’t have to be that. Just make your reach out relevant to their business, bring a hypothesis about their business and ask to be corrected on it if you’re wrong.
- text only emails. No images, get rid of the fancy signature, fewer links included = better
- phone is still king. Pick up rates are dropping but make sure you have a number that hasn’t been marked spam
- definitely Omni-channel (li, email, call, video - try to mix in a little of everything)

Thanks @Gasty and @bandabanda

I think I need to develop a very thick skin to accept that phone is still king. I can take an insult via email but it bites on a different level when it’s done on a voice call or worse, video/ in person.

This is why I favor cold emails more

I’m just trying to help you, not ask you to sacrifice your first born!

I really like this - "bring a hypothesis about their business and ask to be corrected on it if you’re wrong"

Cold calling and emailing. Video messages are great too

Video messages on LI? I’m curious to see how that would look like. Any tips?

My company uses Loom. It’s not just about LinkedIn, it’s also emailed to the prospect. Keep it short and attention grabbing.

I’ll check Loom out this new week. Thanks!

It's more of a grind today than ever, unfortunately.

No approach is dead, but no single approach will win - multi-touch is key.

@Gastyand @bandabandahave some great thoughts here.

Where are your target prospects? What industry? What team?

Can you engage your current customers to run a referral competition/campaign for Q4?

It’s a large org and sadly, I can’t engage or make current customers do anything. But that would be a great idea if I could.
Typing this now, maybe I can offer better prices during contract renewals. Won’t be much, but should be worth something

Yeah that could work!

Also you could try jumping on some highly targeted webinars create warm leads that way

I use tripple tap strategy... Call, email & LinkedIn twice in first week and then design my sequence based on learning.

LinkedIn primarily but not to pitch just to build rapport. Then take it offline after bc now they can put a name with a face

Unfortunately there's not going to be an easy hack. It's not the end of the road you just have to be able to put in the work and prospect smarter.
