Outreach Chrome Extension & Gmail Compatibility

Hey Soldiers and Savages,

My team has been on Outreach since January and for the most part, there haven't been many issues. However, over the past 2 months or so I noticed that my Gmail has been lagging and operating in a slothful manner. After much time has been spent troubleshooting, I came to uninstalling all my extensions on chrome one by one to determine if any of them were specifically causing the issue here.

Up until last week, I was the only one experiencing this lag but now a few other members of my team have found themselves dealing with this as well. Confirmed that it is the Outreach extension because, for the past 2 weeks, I have been uninstalling the extension when using Gmail on its own. Since I discovered this annoying trick, I haven't had any issues with my Gmail lagging.

When it comes to prospecting I just reinstall the extension and uninstall it when I am done. The Outreach support team hasn't been much help with finding the issue, so I wanted to see if anyone in the War Room has been dealing with this at all. When I say my Gmail has been lagging, I mean it literally does not work at all when I have the extension downloaded. Any input or tips here would be more than appreciated. Thanks!

At ease.

I have never used Outreach, but it has given me insight to not use a seemingly annoying add-on.

Yeah, we were on SalesLoft prior but outgrew it in terms of data/analytic capabilities. Based on everything I heard prior, I was really excited for Outreach, but it has just had a litany of issues since its launch. Other than this my biggest gripe is when you make a call, you'll get a notice that you can't connect right now or this number is out of service, meanwhile, I know it isn't. Used my cell phone to connect with an inbound lead once because outreach was refusing to let the call connect. The concept, build, and data capability is far superior to SalesLoft, but for the day-to-day cold outreach, I have to say Loft reigns supreme IMHO.

To be fair, that’s a Twilio issue not an Outreach issue.

True. Not just outreach, but ZoomInfo and Lusha extensions would darken your life rather than lighting it up. As they add more bells n whistles, they need more and more RAM and slow up the browser miserably.

Be choosy when it comes to chrome extensions!

Not to mention that Chrome Extensions can scan for data without you knowing it. It’s well known that Lusha uses its chrome extension to sniff its users’ LinkedIn network (namely the emails and phone numbers your 1st network shares with you)

Shit like this is why I refuse to install extensions. I'm looking at you ZoomInfo trying to make me install and connect my SFDC. Not gonna happen. I'll keep it manual thank you very much.

We have the integration for Zoominfo with SFDC, however, I only had the Reachout extension installed for my first month as an SDR lol. So I guess I should have taken my own hint then. I am going to run for a week or two with no extensions at all and see how my computer is performing. Thank you for the insight here.

I am not a trusting sales rep man. I'm Life Alert years old, so I've seen some shit in my day. 😆

I doubt that you are life alert old. You are young, sly, and foxy.

@AutoSmilerI had a see thru purple pager. Also remember the old school bag phones. Life. Alert.

my parents had a pager once upon a time. I mean, I'll be 31 in like 3 weeks, so I'm not THAT young.

@CuriousFoxThe transparent pager... Reminds me of my original purple GameBoy color which was see thru as well. The good ol' days ha! The times were less daunting, not that I was old enough to recall any stress from those days. I could only assume it's because there were less chrome extensions and more available extensions in the yellow pages

My extensions don't work, and it's exasperating. SalesNav refuses to recognize a VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD account name and insists it doesn't exist in my CRM when it recognizes several contacts tied to that same account. Ridiculousness.

Oh and we for sure have the higher ups that all they do is watch for usage in SFDC and ZI. IDGAF either. I work so hard to keep my data clean and up to date. I cannot tell you how many contact reports I've submitted to ZI because their data is incorrect. If I connected the two and their shit overrode my blood sweat and tears in SFDC I would burn it all down. Nerve. Struck. 🦐

I don't use the Sales Nav extension, and up until you brought this up, wasn't aware one existed. Sounds like we need Big Black (RIP!) to toss the CS team around as we feeble down that pipeline.

Imagine a world where ZI employees regularly cross-referenced with LinkedIn to confirm their place of employment. I assume this would be considered blasphemy!

We don't use Outreach, but extensions in general are notoriously unreliable

Outreach sucks, always had problems with it regardless of Gmail or outlook… even started throttling my sequence. Switch to SalesLoft if you can…

Yeah, we were on SalesLoft prior to making our transition, and there is no way we're going back anytime soon... unfortunately.

6sense was the worst software I have ever used. they do not give you the prospect details that are visiting your website or anything along those lines and I have never seen them offer contact details so that would be new. I'm doubtful of the extent of their database or the accuracy of it.

They're quite different. Does 6sense have contact info?
