Outspoken CEO

Especially in today's world with social media, there are a ton of CEO/Founders who want to become celebrities/influencers and some who actually are extremely famous. This can be amazing as a rep, since clients can know (even admire) your CEO and want to meet with you just to learn more about the company. This can lead to more deals which will make every rep happy.

But.....on the other end. If you have an outspoken CEO and they get in trouble, I assume sales are going to be pretty tough.

Take Dan Price as an example. I am sure every rep at Gravity was able to get more inbounds/close more deals since the DM followed Dan and likes his message on LI. However, now with the news, I am sure a lot of companies will not renew or not request demos for Gravity.

Even consider working for Tesla, I am sure seeing Elon go to war against Twitter can be annoying at times. Or him doing something that cause Tesla's stock to sink since he represents the company. Or even look at what happened with Apple's stock when Steve Jobs had to step down, when the company is so strongly rooted in one person it can be pretty volatile.

Would you want your leadership in the public eye?

Would you want your CEO/Founder to be famous

Sahil, stop making polls about yourself with anonymous accounts. We know it's you, it's ok.

It depends on what they become famous for.

Lots of CEOs have name recognition and awareness, but aren't controversial and are a benefit.

If the company is big enough, reps will get business anyway. People might hold their noses with Elon Musk, but will do business with his companies, because they are too big to ignore (for example).

CEOs should worry more about leading a successful company and less about their public persona. Don't care who you are or what you stand for.

Build a great product and shine the spotlight on that.

I'm sick of hearing what political stance CEOs are taking whenever something polarizing is making headlines. Chances are a good number of their existing clientele and employees will become disenfranchised the second they open their mouths, regardless of which stance they take.

Double edged sword.
Kinda like the Dixie Chicks. They got popular, they became too outspoken, and their fan base (customers) rejected them.
So IMO, its best to just put your head down and do your job....and that's it.

Rather not to be honest. Then everyone thinks they can come in and are buddy buddy with the ceo and get special treatment as clients. Sure the brand recognition is nice but not worth it IMO.
