Love the context given here. Not to forget, the attention of detail is marvelous too.

Where did I say I was tough? You provided 0 context on what overemployed means, what you are looking to learn, why it might matter to this group etc.

The first few posts here are all asking for more context on what you are asking so clearly its not just me.

you didn’t I’m just saying you sound tough telling me the post sucks and being negative. Not my fault you don’t know what Overemployed means. Phrase has been around for years. Those that needed more context asked - you didn’t. You also didn’t expand on why it “sounds awful” so again providing no value to the thread just trolling & being a squid

I mean I don't have two jobs, but I do consulting on the side and it's sometimes impossible and sometimes delightful cause I get a few extra thousand bucks a month for a few extra hours of work a week.

So overemployed is NOT the opposite of underemployed?

Update with some context

Ah, now I get what you’re asking. Someone a couple of months back posted that they were considering it. The obvious problems arise when most employers reasonably expect your full time attention to their company during working hours. It’s a terminable situation for most companies. Other problems have to do with accounting for the job later on. How do you explain this to future employers? A simple background check on your social will expose everything. I’m dubious that it’s at all a good idea, tbh.

What is overemployed?

It's mainly a thing in IT and software where you can feasibly work two jobs at once and not compromise quality. This mainly becomes a thing is a lot of these positions are super low paying, lot of these people just stack 4-5 jobs and wait to be fired and repeat the process lol.

Is overemployed too many workers or being overworked? Or are you looking for extra commission on here with the poll?

It’s a movement where you take on more than one full time job at a time.

Why though?

I personally didn’t do anything but if you check out Overemployed.com there’s a bunch of people taking two or more full time jobs and reeling in cash juggling multiple roles at once. I’m in NYC & have done some research. Looks like as long as there’s nothing in your employment agreement that restricts you from “moonlighting” or taking on outside work it’s fully legal.

If you've got the time and are willing to risk it I say go for it. That's a lot of extra income.

I don't see it being a great long-term strategy though, I can only imagine being able to muster through maybe 3 months with the second job. If I were single with no kids maybe a year.

Burnout is real.

by over employed do you mean that a SaaS company can have too many sales people? because they without a doubt can.

At least with what I do, I don’t think it’s doable. We ended up terming someone because of this. It was very clear they weren’t able to focus on the job at hand and was only working a couple days a week with fairly low performance on those days. Maybe for someone who’s super tenured and just has shit rolling in from referrals or something.

I would for a few months if I could manage it. Although Idk how linkedin being a requirement with most SaaS jobs. Although one sales job is stressful enough as Is.

How many hours needed is such a variable, is do-able but the need to LinkedIn in sales makes it tough

Between my regular job, my weekly writing gig, two e-commerce stores, and two long term marketing clients, I usually put in between 50 and 70 hours per week, typically across 6 days, sometimes 7.

Thing is, my main job is stocking shelves. Brainless, no focus or creativity required.

If I land an SDR gig, I’m planning to hire 1-2 people to help me with my side shit bc I don’t think I’ll be able to effectively prospect and call full-time on top of all my other shit without losing my damn mind

Even with my current responsibilities, I can only go full-bore for a few weeks at a time before I start to feel burnt the fuck out — I can only imagine it being harder as an SDR
