Overly helpful boss

How do I ask my boss nicely to stop sending those "helpful" resources to add to my outreach?

Like a rain of "helpful" links (that can be Googled)

It was an asshole thing, in retrospect. It was a passive-aggressive way to micromanage. So happy that it is in my far past. Still have a bit of PTSD though

Yep. Embrace a helpful boss. Most don’t even try. Tell them what you think you need most so they can be more helpful. They probably don’t know but want to be. Learn how to manage up.

Also my guess is your manager is trying to tell you something without being too aggressive. Take the advice

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Yeah, are they consistently on the same topic? That's an important distinction.

Politely acknowledges the help, save them somewhere for a rainy day, and then keep doing your thing.

It's tiring, but I guess the alternative isn't good either. Good point

This was a genuine question by the way. I wasn't 100% on if you were deadset wanting help or just wanting to vent.

I'll pretend it's the former,
One thing I find helpful in situations where my manager was/is spreading my Vegemite is a "how best to work with me" doc.

When done proactively and from a place of genuine intent, it's also a good relationship builder.

At the very least, you should be able to identify the "purpose" behind old mate's actions (as in he'll most likely explain where he's coming from).

Hope this helps.

There are much worse things in the world.

Put them all in a doc/folder/whatever that’s sharable. Then share that with boss so they can just add. They will be very excited about the initiative! (Make sure to ask for a description on each as to why - they might tire of the added effort and stop)

If that is your problem, you ain't got problems my friend!

Setup up two rules in whatever mail program you use:
1. send an automated response to your boss thanking him.
2. moves his email to a designated folder for resources, so next time you need to send outreach you'll have it.

Move on

It may clutter your inbox but there will come a time when you will be glad they sent you some content that you can pull from. Like everyone else is saying, move everything to a separate folder and keep doing your thing. Things could be a lot worse than this.

I'd start to form relationships with other reps and ask them questions about the accounts you are trying to learn about.
