What keeps you up at night is a generic one but gets a lot of good responses.

I like this one, and seen it thrown around in blogs, vlogs, podcasts and LinkedIn if I'm remembering correctly, but for the life of my I've never tried asking this. I mean, I'm just an SDR and so my worry is booking the meeting.

Why? Is there another version of this that you use instead?

It's corny and overused.

It's hard to find a one size fits all pain question.

I typically give an elevator pitch, explain why people use our product vs competitors, and ask if any of those reasons resonate.

I have never liked this question.

I would instead say something like "i have spoken with similar leaders in similar companies and they are concerned about <this>. do you share the same concerns? -or- how do those align with your concerns?

Instead of coming at them with a bunch of questions, start the conversation with a point of view. Demonstrate your understanding of their business/industry/persona. Once you build credibility and earn a bit if their trust, they'll be willing to open up and talk about problems within their organization.

So what's your value prop? You can bend that around to find out if it's something they're challenged with. Then keep the conversation going.

What’s the common pain points most of your prospects? Instead of asking, did you try to probe them if X is the problem or how do they handle X to see if they spit some more details?

Really depends on the product and the person you are talking to.

My go to if they are already a customer of a competitor. I act surprised if things are going well, and ask if they are open to an assessment at the time of the renewal. Then send demos of why you are better monthly

You need to understand their business and the common pains experienced in their business.

Then you can ask questions like, “I’ve talked with other leaders in your position who are frustrated by x, struggling with y, need to solve z. How are you handling that today?”

“In my experience supporting our customers, I find most are dealing with XYZ challenges. Are you going through something similar or are you working on something that’s more unique to your specific company?”
