Panic Mode?

My coworker just came back from vacation and has marble mouth(fumbling on the phones) and won't stop talking about how he is not able to hit his goals for the week. I tried to encourage him but he keeps giving me back negative feedback and how he is at risk about losing his job. Do I still try to help him or do I just put in my airpods and pretend to ignore him?

PS: He just yelled at me to "stop playing war room"

Lmao I would've said keep trying to motivate him with the positive encouragement, but if he dissed you for "playing War Room" then you should put in the AirPods and ignore him. "Stop playing War Room" lmao what does he think he's your father๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I lol'd at that. Reminds me of back in the 90s when my actual father would tell me to "stop playing the internet and go outside!" And here I am, still playing the internet 20 years later.ย

I'm gonna be the annoying one who points out that maybe he just needs a hug. Everyone needs a cheerleader sometimes, myself included.ย

However, you can only do so much. If people really insist on self destructing, you have to ensure that you're not brought down with them.ย

I would steer him to some good content to give him confidence. The depression project on instagram is really great for pick me up stuff. I'm sure there are others.

I think the best way to help someone who isn't hitting their quota, is to listen to the calls together and identify possible improvements on the calls itself! Make him give his own feedback, asking him what could have gone better and what went well and compliment this ideas with your own thoughts!

I totally agree, he just is down in the dumps and he just needs to pull it together and have some confidence

Poor kid. Sometimes you just need to call it a day. Sales is not for the weak minded. Zip the case up bro. Start over tmo. When I wake up and have a bad mindset , itโ€™s very hard to push through sometimes. Pep talk it if you can but then move onto your own work. (War room I mean hahah). This kid needs some Grit. Us old reps are grittier than a 60 grit sanding block. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Heโ€™s probably just rusty from vacation and wants to go back! But I agree you need the right mindset or wonโ€™t succeed

Sounds like he needs to start playing war room. lol.ย
But also whenever I'm feeling like shit, I just focus on hitting smaller metrics that lead to better attainment. Going back to basics and remembering you don't have to do it all at once (make the sale).

If he's your friend, take him aside and give him a quick pep-talk and a new trick to try. If you don't like him tell him you think he's doing great and you're sure it'll work out and not to stress- then put your airpods in and keep playing war room.ย

There are people who are willing to learn and grind to be successful. There are those who look for excuses. Neither camp are bad people, but it sounds like he would be happier outside of sales.ย

Depends if you you're friends with them or have any loyalty. If not, some people have to, unfortunately, make mistakes and then face the repercussions.ย

Did he come back with some sort of substance abuse issue also? Or has he always acted like that? It's sales man...ultimately you have to do you. Give him words of encouragement...that's fine, but if he's gonna be like that and try and take everyone down, don't give it any energy.

Hopefully he either learns that he's the problem, or doesn't hit his numbers and gets sh*tcanned. Can't have someone around like that for too long.ย

People that do not want help cannot be helped. If he welcomed the challenging situation he is in while still confiding his worry around performance then by all means help him, but it seems as if he has lost the fight already and is looking for a savior. That is not worth your time and your performance

You just had an awesome proposal call, but everyone is going back to their busy lives. What do you do to keep that momentum alive, especially over a long sales-cycle?
