Paternity Leave

Does your company offer it? I'm about to have my second child and I'm taking a week off but I'll be out of pocket the whole time. 
Makes me wish I was still at Apple, where I could take 12 weeks at 100% salary and up to a year at 70%.

What state do you live in? In California, legally fathers get something like 9 weeks paid leave anytime throughout the first year of a baby’s life.

yes our company and laws offer it, it is amazing you get 1 full day leave. If your kid gets born on a weekend great news you are not eligible in using it...which is great! who wants to take time off from work?

Hahah they don’t even have a policy. I could probably take a lot more but I have really important shit that needs to get done so I’m lucky to just take a week.

Took as much time as I could for each kid. Last one was three weeks, followed by another 2 weeks later in the year. 

first two was all standard PTO. Last was paternity. Was a game changer for #3

My company offers 6 weeks that are *supposed* to be taken in 2-week chunks during the first 6 months, but it’s not tracked so it’s kind of a free for all. If you’re hitting metrics, nobody much cares, especially given the remote environment.

Our company gives 3 months. It’s new and apparently “frowned on” for using bc it means you’re just not manly enough if you actually want to participate in helping with a newborn. (Work for old school auto manufacturer - straight boys club so this fits)
