Pay OTE during ramp?

I'm interviewing to find my next AE role. Speaking now with a UCaaS vendor and they pay out full OTE during first 3 months while you ramp up. Is this common for most midmarket AE SAAS roles?

Yes, it is. Most companies pay full OTE for the first quarter. It is how they have stayed competitive in the hiring market

Yes it's common while you are in training so you are covered.

It’s 50/50. I’ve had 3 month and 6 month ramps. Depends the length of sales cycle and time to build a decent pipeline. Full OTE is normal for 3 months, but with 6 months they paid 100% for first 3 months and then 75% the last 3 months.
Typically if you beat the ramp earnings they will pay you whatever is higher amount.

Haven't found it common in Canadian Market but loved the enlightenment with some comments

When I was last recruited I negotiated a full year of OTE and a guaranteed base increase after 18 months.

Was this because the sales cycle was 9-12 months? sounds like you did some amazing negotiating!

This is fairly common. In fact, I've designed ramp plans that tie in non-revenue-based components to show job mastery and learning milestone achievements.

From what I know its not common at all. I've only had 1 company that I've interviewed with do that. But interested what others say as I haven't been around the block that many times. Sounds like a sweet deal to me though

I always ask about ramp in the phone screen so you can get an exact idea of what to expect. Also helps you formulate better questions when you speak with the hiring manager on the next call.

I've been paid ramp, but it will depend on the company/situation.   Ask the recruiter what the situation is, and don't be afraid to negotiate.

I haven't experienced that yet, tbh. First few months are the hardest just because you're not getting your commish at the levels you're expecting.
