PayPal Account Executive

I got a message for a role at PayPal. Looks like their base is meh, but company as a whole seems ok. They may be onsite v remote, which would kill all interest, but am curious if anyone is working there and has an opinion?

The specific role was Expansion AE. Selling and managing accounts (CSM basically).

I think after writing this, I realize I would hate it. Selling and actively managing customers sucks.

Change my mind????

UPDATE:

The fun part was the recruiter tried to explain office v remote for 10 minutes, and had no real answer.

Turns out it's the managers that want sales people in the office. Not the company.

I was even asked about coming in for a meeting here and there.

Company has been WFH since 2020. And is mandated to be WFH the entire year of 2022.

WHAT MEETINGS DOES ANYONE NEED TO COME IN FOR!?!?!?!?!?

I did learn that Paypal is almost a 30B company. Pays their sales people low bases. And acquires new tech through acquisitions only. So.....meh.

I'd faster work for their competition than a dinosaur who has done little to innovate in the past 5 years.

If you're happy in your current role, I would say pass. If you're actively looking, could be worth at least chatting with them.

Lol yup. I will chat with the recruiter at the very least. But I have to both sell and manage customers now. I despise what is ultimately the CSM aspect of things while prospecting new accounts at the same time.

Why do you want people to change your mind?

The change my mind part was insinuated as a deeper question. Meaning, would you even want to try based on what has been read, combined with your own personal beliefs and what you have personally seen happen across salespeople, the responsibilities asked of them, and the companies they work with in general.

We would all love to be wrong about certain things, but experience tells us otherwise what to expect.
