Unequivocally, yes. Personal brand generates inbound leads, turns cold calls into warm calls, and ensures you don't have to use a resume next time you need a job.

It does work to your advantage if you're Consistent and delivering value to your audience
So I'd say, yes 60% and no 40% (because, focus on sales job matters more than the brand personally!)

How so?ย  Do you disagree with the premise?ย  I'm happy to expound if so.ย ย

It kind of coincides with what Dan Lok says (I don't know if you've heard of him) but in a different perspective.

Isn't job security to ensure you won't be kicked out? If so, you'd rather close more than to work on something that attracts other companies./..

Do expand a bit :)

ahhh...no I do get that, and there's validity to that point as well.
I think the way I'm thinking about it is the difference between starting from zero in a job search, vs starting from a pool of those you've built network/community with.ย  There is a sense in which the best personal brand builders are 'known' across large swaths of the community they serve.ย  Their perspectives, ideas, thoughts and frameworks have usually made it out in ways that those who don't do brand building haven't.
What's unique about a brand builder is sort of out there for all to see.ย  It humanizes the resume in ways that are less likely w/o it.ย  The thing about the corp world is that there's never a guarantee you won't be kicked out, or that leadership won't change for the worse, or that your comp plan will be capped, or that acquisitions lead to layoffs etc.ย  Knowing that, the brand builder is simultaneously driving great visibility for their company, serving their ICP with relevant content and pertinent insights, AND building a network of people who 'know them' in the best sense when it comes to a job hunt that becomes necessary.ย  I'm not saying this is the chief reason to build personal brand, but it's definitely a nice add on to the revenue you drive via the practice (and that revenue is real, as is the familiarity with your company and space).ย ย

I think it can be effective, but you also have to know some managers will get annoyed if they feel you are spending too much time building your personal brand and not making cold calls (More so for the SDR roles if you're in a leadership position this isn't a problem)

I don't think it matters either way. No offense to Corp and all other other sales "gurus" on LinkedIn but I don't think it gives them any more credibility.

Fake it till you make it. Sounds like a great opportunity where you can be the one who drives the organization to adopt Salesforce and really get a grip on what leads are worth the team's time
