PIP - stay or leave

Story is I've been at the company for 5+ years smashing target. Leads have gone down 30-40% each month but targets going up :)
I just missed target last calendar year however this year doing well.

Missed target March and warned I would be put on pip in April if didn't hit target as didn't make it last year.

Hit target in April however now looms over me and leads still down.

Should I stay and keep hustling as can make good coin or go. Feel like it's a slap in the face after working at the company smashing it for so many years and leads down?

Stay but look for another gig. If they fire you, collect some unemployment if you haven’t already landed your next role.

This is a victim mentality. Stay and fight for your job or start a paid job search. Those are the two options.

Yeah! This sounds about right. Also, just don't let it go to your ego. It happens more often than you'd think. Just wait till you get something better, don't make any decision in haste.

Pip= paid interview period and you aren’t even on one yet, they are doing you a favor, highlight smashing targets and achieving numbers for the last x years all while navigating turbulence and you’ll get an offer in 3 weeks

Where is your sense of urgency? Threats of a PIP and still blaming leads?

If you’re not already figuring out outbound…time to start.

Showing your boss that you’re trying to figure it out is way more appealing than hitting 90%

Once again, I'll shout-quote the legendary Dan Goodman - PIP = PAID INTERVIEW PERIOD

You've got a target on your back, even if you make it through it'll never be the same. Your fate is most likely inevitable.

Pip is equal to you on their radar. Start looking out simultaneously.

You should always have a foot out the door since there is no such thing as company loyalty to its employees.

Don't leave because you're feeling threatened. Start interviewing elsewhere, and don't leave unless you find something better or you're pushed out.
A word of advice, however. Don't be passive. This is a time of economic uncertainty, but waiting for leads and hoping for the best is not going to be enough. You're going to have to fill time by sourcing leads.
You can also look for openings elsewhere, but good sales habits will be good to have in the long run.

Start paid search while you fight for your job, if you want to stay at least.

Oof, I'd go. Definitely have another job before you leave, but leave. No coming back from that. I was in a situation like that recently myself. It sucks, but it's best to move on.

with 5+ years i would say get out. especially if you have a history of hitting target i am sure you can land at another solid place and maybe even get a raise.

take advantage of your solid track record and get out while the getting's good.

A PIP is always a waving red flag saying your time is limited. They didn't technically place you on one, but this is a shot across the bow.
I honestly hate how this post is phrased. I'm not saying that this is how you feel, but it comes off as "This isn't my fault at all; I've been around 5 years; therefore it's okay I missed quota in '24 and missed it again in March.'
If it truly is 100% the company's fault, who cares about the pip and the 'slap in the face' and you need another job. But, more likely you can take some accountability here and figure out what you can do differently.

Either way, good luck. I know you don't come on the forms to get beat up. But I do think there may be a mentality shift here that is warranted.
