Planning

yo sales Managers - when do you usually plan the "year" in terms of targets and other KPIs?

do you do it in January for the following year or earlier? please leave info on how big is your company as well. I know it would be a right thing to plan the next year in December or November of the previous year, but that is our sales season and it's difficult to plan when we're trying to hit quota. What is your experience here?

October 2021 is when we start, December is when it's officially rolled out to the team.ย

KPIโ€™s are interesting because they can be both collective as well as individual.
I start in January.
Naturally we have goals covering (dec, jan, feb) - (x amounts of calls, sales, FTR, AWT, AHT, etc).
I would set goals, motivators, etc. based on quarters and develop the kpi from what I get from Q1. This is again depending on how big a department you are dealing with.
I manage a smaller branch with 25 people - overall great performers. This way works for me. I just further develop the kpiโ€™s from Q4 21โ€™.

I used to take a quarter approach. Basically viewing where we are and where I hope to be in a year. Very macro high level every quarter, and then start to actually shape it in October/November.ย
