Please help me with this prospect

Without going into too much detail, I've been speaking with a prospect for around 2 months, they gave me a brief, we delivered a proposal then we booked in a follow up call a week later...

Fast forward to that follow up call, the prospect didn't turn up, sent an email / called but no response, a couple of days later I got hold of them via the phone, they said they were sorry having internal meetings to discuss then would get back to me on the next Wednesday.

That Wednesday came and went so I followed up on the Thursday (this was last week), tried calling but no answer so sent an email, the email's been opened 5 times but still no reply.

Any advice on what to do next?

TIA

They're not interested. Either your proposal wasn't what they expected, they were just using your quote for leverage against a competitor, they were tire kickers never intent on actually buying, or another major priority has come up and they simply don't care about this right now.ย

My suggestion is to send an email that simply says "Have you given up on this project?" You may get a reply with some explanation, you may not. If you don't, move on. You can call it again down the line if it makes sense to, but they're not buying right now so you should focus your time elsewhere.

Yeah I got the feel it was to get advice then implement themselves - you win some you lose some!

Will definitely try that email though, thank you!

I'm not sure what industry you're in and how time intensive proposals are, but I do recommend doing all you can to DQ prospects before you spend any time on a proposal. If you get the feeling they're just using you as a resource early on, ask questions to confirm. You might have done all you can here but just a reminder for all that our time and our resources are valuable and you don't have to give them away to anyone that asks.

Agree with this, but my thought was why canโ€™t people just say sorry we are no longer interested. Thanks for all your help and bla bla bla

Because many people are lil bitches without any balls to have slightly uncomfortable conversations and/or are selfish fuckers with no respect for other people's time.

I'm a fan of the simple "Have you given up on this or moved in a different direction email" that FunCoupons mentioned below. If your prospect is a true advocate for your solution, ask them how you can assist in pulling in other stakeholders if they answer that break-up email.ย

So we do things that are called "Clear Futures" we go to the Extremes intentionally.ย

We say "so I like to have a clear future. IF I do not hear from you by wednesday, is okay to call you every hour until I get you on the phone?"

How long total has it been since you started it?

After 1.5 months we do a Close the file email, and have our manager send us a email saying any update on this?? and like names the client and then we will fwd the email and include a message saying what Fun coupons said. "Have you given up on this project!"
