I started working in retail at 17 and was making ~$20/hour in 2005. That's pretty much when I got hooked on it.ย
Rotational Grad scheme for me...Marketing -ย Sales Ops and Consulting....there was no choice
Fell into an entry level sales job out of college. Even then, took me awhile to realize this was my calling.
I started hustling when I was 13~14 burning CDs with movies and selling them to my friends...movies, porn you name it. Then I worked in helping people get booze and get into clubs that are 21 yo and above so definitely I loved selling.
But yea I also subscribe to the not having hard skills post graduation.

I got a sales job at 24, but realized sales is part of life.ย
i.e. getting the first date, earning the scholarship, negotiating the price of our first home, convincing my wife we should order tacos for dinner, not thai food for the 1000th time... still working on that one

Hard skills are for nerds
Honestly just always loved talking to people and I had a professor tell me I should be in sales and never looked backย
I started working retail in college. 18 - 19 years old.
I was a biochemist before moving into Technology sales. I was at the lab cultivating a bacteria incubation at 2 am when I realized this wasn't it.ย
