The Morning Brew is pretty solid. Daily email newsletter that has bite-sized articles with links out to longer sources. Obviously won't cover everything, but they are pretty good at grabbing the big stories.ย

My motto is "Morning Brew is great for my morning poo", but you can read it anywhereย

I get the daily local update emailed to me M-F at 3 pm. I like that feature as it lists the top headlines for the day, locally and nationally.ย

Most articles are free. The ones that aren't I just Google the headline and see what comes up. I would pay for it if my company would allow us to expense it.

Um, so Google Alerts is really useful. It scours the internet every day and emails me the top 5-7 news items based on a topic. Currently I have them for "new york city construction" "new york contractor" "construction insurance" "surety bonding" .....you get the drift. What subjects would you want to read about if it was published?ย

The best part is that if its a really big news item, you'll get many different sources to quote.ย

One source isn't the way to go. It depends on what you sell as well as a lot of stuff is industry specific. I use a hybrid of WaPO, NYT, WSJ, Bloomberg, Fortune, Forbes and some more industry specific stuff.

Good point.ย  For me, I tend to go straight to the technology and finance pages.ย  Even better if they specifically have a fintech page.

Who reads the news?

You mean you don't just rely on Facebook and LinkedIn?

Yep that is definitely a problem.ย  I see some news startups being advertised for this exact reason.ย  I'm interested to see how they do.

WSJ and NYT are pretty 'reputable' meaning that millions of people read it everyday, whether or not it's true, good luck finding anything true on MSM or published in general.ย

If it's the truth you seek you're on a long road ahead of ya, more than 70% of the media is owned by rupert murdoch and the narratives are pretty much puppeteered by him and special interest groups.

That being said, it doesn't really matter if it's true, because if it is, you'll probably sound like an idiot to 90% of people for repeating it.

THAT being said, there are plenty of grassroots publications out there, use duckduckgo when searching and you'll find plenty of reputable sources to trust.ย

just my 2 cents
