Poll Integrity - Suggestion

I have nothing against the inclusion of polls in posts but, in an effort to encourage more quality participation, I feel the need to point something out:

Answering polls is the most low-effort approach to earning commission

And there’s nothing inherently wrong or bad with that. However, what this means is you are inevitably going to get people that answer your poll wether it applies to them or not…

That’s why I’d just like to suggest a guideline here to increase the integrity of poll data:

Include a ‘not applicable’ option in your poll so that commission farmers can get their hit without corrupting your poll data.

Agree? Disagree? Thoughts?

I would also like to see polls locked after 30 days, or just de-commissioned all together. It is annoying seeing new members go back and spam vote in every poll we have had and jumping over people on the leaderboard who actually add value/contribute each week. It has been a recurring theme now.

We have plans already to no longer grant commission on polls after a week. People will still be able to vote but the commission aspect wont be there. This is coming.

Damn @BigMeech you just went a level deeper. I totally agree. Great observation.

Now that I think about it - decomissioning them would solve your problem as well, because people would not have a reason to vote unless it actually applied to them, right?

Like someone farmed roughly 800 commish today by spam voting in all historical polls. That just seems like a poor use of time but also a loop hole to be fixed... @GeneralCorp is basically paying $50 (assuming they cash out) to people just voting in old polls in that case.

I would rather see the $50 go to the leaderboard winner or re-invested!

I prefer your 30 day lock suggestion because, at the end of the day, having more avenues to earn commission is a net positive for all the members in the community.

The 30 day lock is a great compromise but that’s just my take on it.

Fair. Best of both worlds.

Yes @CadenceCombat @BigMeech I like both of your ideas. Especially cutting off the spam farming.

Of all the suggested features we have seen so far, I would say this is tied with a notification button in platform as my favorite. Genius solution requiring minimum effort. Wish I could upvote twice.

On point and makes complete LOGIC!!!

This will help the poll creator decide genuinely on poll responses too
Will make sure this is incorporated in any poll questions moving forward 🙏

It would be pretty funny if someone changed their @ to @commissionfarmer

This is a good idea. I don't have any poll related questions to ask in the near future, but will surely incorporate this whenever that happens. Thank you!
