My base is crap, but commission structure is good and makes up for it. Stiill a lil salty about the base tho.

I probably make 50% less than I should for my role and responsibilities.

But what Im really here for is someone to come in and say they are overpaid.

Totally happy as my A.E's pretty much do all the demo's. I'm just there to answer the tech questions.

Do you actually enjoy that? That drives me absolutely bonkers and I left a job after 10 months because of that deal cycle being all rep.

Super late reply as I haven't logged in for a while but yes. However, I also do the implementation and troubleshooting for their first few "targets" and use my free time to mess around in my VMs building and testing. On top of that, I work remotely and get to spend more time with my dogs. No need to make myself look busy in the office. Then again, I'm in it for the work life balance. My company also specializes in cybersecurity and I love the product so that does make it easier.

My previous job was with Oracle under their OCI implementation team and that was so much work. The reps and ECAs completely relied on me to not only do the standard Cloud S.E work but to also do a lot of "bitch work." Though the reason for that is because Oracle was dumb enough to eliminate all of their CSMs which led to the S.E's having to do both roles. Absolutely hated it by the time I was done. Great experience though, learned a lot.

I felt underpaid at my last role and recently did something about it. :D it feels good to sell yourself on the open market! I even ended up in an industry that intrigues me much more.

I was working in the telecom space, it was very stuffy and the company direction was very unsustainable. I had somewhat botched a negotiation when moving to a place with a cheaper cost of living. It was a rookie mistake and the recruiter had much more experience than I with salary negotiations. Since the employee experience was exponentially getting worse, I started researching SaaS companies in a space I’m way more passionate about. For the first time in my sales career, I didn’t feel the need to fit my passion to the position. It gave me a lot of confidence and I was able to counter in my new role which ended up being about a 45% bump on my base and a much more lucrative commission structure.

well every top performer always feel they are underpaid...and others well compensated?

IMO the sales leaders should augment consistent top performers responsibilities to help them prepare for veritical/horizontal growth.
They shudn't be in the job just for the salary, but also for career progression

100% I know I'm underpaid. Considering jumping ship to another company but once I have some experience as an AE.

SMB AE making 110k OTE in VHCOL... basically poverty.

Underpaid due to HR putting a focus on "equality" and capping pay raises when you get promoted

I know for a fact I'm underpaid by about 35% in comparison to the industry so

It's not the biggest in my career, but the most impactful was moving from insurance sales where I made 30k all commission to a WealthTech AE where my base was 40k and my OTE was 80k. Seriously going from broke to having a bank account feels like a bigger impact than any other income jump I've had.
