Pre-Interview Questionnaire: Lazy or Common Practice?

I am currently exploring external options. I recently landed an interview with one of my top targets.

Before the interview, the recruiter sent me a word doc to fill out with literally 30 questions that looked like they googled "top sales interview questions" and copied onto a word doc.

Formatted terribly, no company watermarks or logos, and spelling errors.

Have any of you seen this before? I am contemplating putting "Answer on request" for some of them because the doc gets pretty personal and I am not cool with an unencrypted word doc floating around.

I think it is just a lazy recruiter but I have not interviewed in a few years so this could be a new practice, I don't know...

Have you seen this before?

Not common, lazy recruiter. The only acceptable written questions I've seen have been a few simple, yes or no qualifying questions that may not be evident on a resume. Are you willing to travel internationally/do you have a vehicle and license, that sort of thing.

I would 100% not spend time on that, and instead say that I'd be happy to chat during an interview to answer any questions they have for me and have an opportunity to ask questions of my own. An interview is not an interrogation, it's an opportunity for both parties to figure out if it's a good fit.ย

That is more or less my approach, first call is tomorrow! I was actually astonished they would expect me to fill this out... what would they cover on the call???

Basically everything you could think of to ask about my career, aspirations, past performance, goals, territory management, etc were all on there.

I guess I can tell them about my favorite color? That is about all that is left.

Haha. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Is this an external recruiter?ย

I had to do a questionnaire, but it was a personality test from a third part vendor.ย

Then they made me do a full 12 page business plan lol.ย
