presenting… myself?

happy thanksgiving, all!

i have a final round interview next week in which i'll be presenting to a panel.

in this presentation, im supposed to present about myself (transferable skills, career background/highlights, etc)

& then high-level on their solution/vertical with next steps.

how would you execute this to make sure you kill it?

Sounds like a QBR that I just recently had - just on life's level, not on quarter's level.

You can get a little creative and quirky if the company allows it. Pick a character of a series like Suits that you most relate with, and drive the narrative that way.

First slide can be just 'You'. What makes you, you. The next slide can be career background. In this, I would normally put things that my resume would not tell. What I did, away from my KRAs, and how they impact my 'current'.

Then the next one can be what you intend on learning more to become more 'skilled'. Then conclude by your individual skills, and transferrable skills.

Things like that. Whatcha think ?

This is interesting. I say run with it. Let your personality come thru. Have fun with it.

Love all this advice! Keep it fun and let them really see you - they’re half evaluating your personality and how you’ll fit on the team/selling style and half that you can communicate value and understand their message. Based on the solution you’ll be selling, make sure to story about yourself in a way that leads in or mirrors how the product solves problems. Good luck!

Lmao, the first thought was that you were whipping it out and becoming the next “Florida Man..” headline, or something to that equivalent.

@ThatNewAE is spot on here. Be sure to include anything that you feel contributes to your success that doesn’t fit on a resume. For me, that would include things like: starting a technology-focused non profit, community involvement, advocacy work, etc. and like any other presentation I have a quick 2-3 sentence explanation each on how those help(ed) me build skills that I bring to the role.

I’m also always a fan of incorporating a little humor… off the top of my head I’m thinking ending on a yearbook style personal bio page including “voted most likely to succeed at [company name]” and a silly old school picture like elementary if you’re young or if you’re older and have totally outdated Senior pics use that.

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
I just did something like that for an interview.
I did a deck with the first slide a brief summary of my resume and highlights specific to the job.
The second was a GTM slide with Challenges and Opportunities and some items specific to their Vértical.
Wrapped up with what I brief to the job and my management style.

Good luck !

1. make sure you have a solid story of WHY you made each move you made and 1 thing you learned from each job. PRACTICE this out loud and have it DOWN before the interview. this will be SO important.

2. this should be the easy part honestly. just do a TON of research on the product. you want it to be clear that you understand WHAT thte product is and WHY ppl buy it. not just what features it has but what problems are being solved.

Also, in this part it is ok to ask a question or two. like throw in a "id love to learn more about X im not sure i FULLY grasp it but its important because of....."
