This is an awesome reminder of the "right thing" should pay off long term.
I met this couple a few years ago. It was a "no bid" meaning we wouldn't be quoting the project after the discovery meeting turned up this wasn't really our scope. I let them know if I were to provide their solution, it would be way over priced as we dont specialize in what they wanted (essentially, a repair of sorts) so instead guided them to the correct people and walked away.
They came back, years later, for a full-scope project that more fits what we do. The day I met with them I quoted it, and they moved forward. E Z
