Probably Getting Acquired - Advice should i stay or should I go

Got info our business unit will be sold to another company. I work at a large american MNC and am top performer in APAC region.

ARR Generated probs like 1-2mil USD per annum.

The business unit being sold comprises 80% of my ARR generated. Should I bother to wait it out and see where this goes an AE or like should I begin seriously super seriously shopping for other jobs.

We don't know who the buyer is but timeline is 6-12 months.

Do you have options/equity? Don't leave before you get that pay out, baby.

Unfortunately not! - It's a big MNC in the vein of Oracle or SAP

Everyone knows about ABC (Always Be Closing)

But few know about ABSBSCHAAM (Always Be Searching Because Shit Can Happen At Any Minute).

See if they offer you a buyout. I've been part of 2 mergers. they fucking sucked. It's usually an excuse to clean house and chop and screw the teams and business practices. Stuck it out on the first one and hated it. Took the severance on the second and enjoyed my free 3 month job search. Something to consider.

Turn it in your favor, have the numbers ready and proactively approach. Understand what's the opportunity, upside, path and "what is in it for you". You don't want to keep things as they are, but improve your total package - play offense. If you are as good as you say, a good leader will recognize it and act - if not seal the exit and move on.

That's stressful, and I would be concerned too.

My approach is ABL (like ABC but Always Be Looking) and ALWAYS TAKE THE CALL. The job market is HOT! Most of us get 5+ Linkedin recruiter messages a week; even though I am gainfully employed, I always ask comp/budget for the role.

Good luck! I hope it all turns out great for you.

I liked the L approach and its always good to have a plan L 😁 rather than repenting later. As I mentioned before someone said to me once "Don't love your company too much, it might not love you tomorrow"

I had been a part of one acquisition in the past and the buying company decided to restructure the org so they ended up firing everyone (w/o a notice, tis was like 12 years back). Not sure how things work now but if you know if for sure, depending upon your relationship with your manager, it might be worth to discuss as you care for your professional goals like every other employees do.

Keep a hot list of what companies you may want to move to, but stick it out for a bit to see what you're offered. Never hurts to keep close connections.

Agreed. Also you may get a package of some sort if you stick it out.

I'd start looking, but I'd also hold on for a bit, as others have said, to see if there's a buyout or offer before you jump.

Of course, if you find a fantastic offer as you put your feelers out, you could jump early.

I went through this once. What was explained to me after the fact is they will decide the number of sales people they want to keep post acquisition, draw a line and cut anyone below that line. Top performers are unlikely to be concerned. You might be able to negotiate better terms too since you're a top earner and they'll need you.

Carry on for a wee bit and see what ops you get! Then decide what feels the best option.

I was hired at a really good start up about 4 months ago for a SDR role that I was told I wouldn’t be in for very long. They’re gonna go public in the next year, but Zoom Info reached out to me about an Account exec position. Now I’m wondering if I should take the guaranteed route to AE or let my shares vest and get to AE at the place that took me. Usually I wouldn’t consider jumping so quickly, but AE is AE.
