Question!

So I have been with my current company for about 3.5 years.(copier sales). This is my first sales job. I feel as if I have possibly hit a plateau with what I can do for this company or what this company can do for me. I keep getting told one about how things will change, but it never happens(even with baller follow up).

If you have felt the same, at what point did you feel this your career and when did you start looking for something else?

Start looking. Benjamin Button said it best, there's no rules to this thing. The only person loyal to you, is you. Find your next move, continue to go north and focus on growth. Don't settle and get stale.

If I was in your shoes, I would start looking for other positions now. If there's not much growing left you can do, then it doesn't sound like it's going to benefit you in the long run. Plus 3.5 years experience with the same company is a decent amount of time to spend in your first role, in my opinion. With how the job market is right now & your experience, I doubt you'd have a tough time finding a new role

I would start looking for a new opportunity as soon as I feel that the plateau has reached. It happens many a times that you're promised something that doesn't happen or delay a lot where you loose patience and don't see progression, start feeling useless/under utilized etc. Time to change may be!

You've got awesome tenure, 3.5 years is veteran status in your world, reach out and you'll most likely get an amazing response!

Copier sales? Bro are you door knocking? That's hard as fuck, hats off to you bro. You're killing it selling a commodity. Lmao what is your pitch? This thing last 10 years and has multi color? Forgive me for my ignorance but if you can sell copiers you can sell anything. Dude 3.5 years for an IC role, time to bounce or ask for a raise bro, salary compression is real. I got a 50k bump from taking on new roles in a 6 month period. you gotta look out for yourself, fuck empty promises. They tell you "things will change" so you dont leave, probably cause you're a good front line employee. I think the grass is likely greener on the other side. If I were you, I'd apply to 50 SaaS or computer networking jobs. My 2 cents.
