Question for those who sell on cold calls

what things are important to you, when you make a phone call to sell? (e.g to smile threw the phone)

what is the best advice you have been given for making sell calls?

how do you get on the other side, when feeling that you can't sell anything?

Hey, welcome to the War Room; already been a bunch of great discussions on every part of cold calling. I would recommend using the search bar to find them. :)

Firstly make sure you are feeling comfortable - posture, attitude etc. Then just imagine you are speaking to a mate - it’s just another human being. What’s the worst that can happen ay! Also, never sound like a salesperson and when you do do say ‘I don’t want to sound like a cliche salesmen’.

Confidence. I am coaching a rep who has no confidence on the phone. You can hear it. I speak like I’m supposed to be there. Happy to be there. Expected to be in the phone & friendly like I’m glad we know each other. It does wonders in cold calling.

I find that I'm much more confident on the phone when I'm selling while walking around versus that of sitting.

Don't forget to fail miserably at everything in life! This will help you not give a shit when one of your attempts fails.

That's not sarcasm. You need to get a thick skin somehow before you can be successful.

I always start with “hey it’s xxx with xxx. I’m cold calling you, do you want to hang up or can we chat for a second?” That gets people to laugh & loosen up, or hang up quicker. & if they don’t think that’s funny they were probably going to hang up anyways, saves me time Always know what you’re going to say & always tell them why you’re calling. Sometimes I fuck up & get into asking too many questions & it creeps people out if you don’t give them a why & if people are nasty to you make them own their poor behavior “I’m so sorry YOU feel that way” & hang up on them first!!!

Listening to the person on the other end, make them do the talking and you control the conversation. It gets easier the more practice you have.

It's already a "no" before you dial, your job is to turn that to a "yes". That's it.

Know what the fuck you're gonna say if the other person picks up.

Get to the point as quickly as possible without apologizing and don't give up.

We have a longer deal cycle (3 months min) so its more of adding value and gaining trust/consent for that next call
