Ramp Time for AE in IT Services

What is the appropriate amount of ramp time for an AE to start contributing in the IT Services sales?

How long before a manager would need to put in a performance improvement plan?

How long of poor performance before termination?

Context is greatly appreciated in situations like these.

How long is your formal onboarding/training program?
What is your average sales cycle (length)?

Those two timeframes will help you understand the ramp. However, most folks give reps 90 days to ramp up, and another 90 days until they would consider PIPing them. PIPs can be 30-90 days in length (based on the average sales cycle). Afterwhich they are either terminated or demoted...whatever the company chooses to do.

2 weeks for formal onboarding and training.
Average sales cycle 6 weeks.

Awesome, thanks. So I'd say a 90-day ramp makes sense in this case. After that ramp, if they aren't performing at standard for an additional 90 you could consider a PIP.

Sounds like a decent time to get up to speed imo.

The ramp time to be considered "proficient" at the company I am moving to is like 2 years lol

Heavy investment!  Staying at that long at a company for some rarely happens.

It's different at every company. Where I came from? 18 months. Where I am now? 12 months.

Market you're selling into plays a huge factor.
