Rationale behind no bonus / OTE packages?

Recruiter in the conversation surprised me, It's enterprise video, growth stage company. for an Account Mgr, there is no OTE just the base. How are people taking these roles? and what is rationale behind not giving commissions ? Is this some new sales mgmt philosophy I didnt get the memo about?

That's a great base but where's my incentive to not just punch in and out?

If the base is high enough, then yeah sure, check the box on the certainty. But if it is average, idk why people would take it

any sales job that doesn't have commission is a no go for me. As far as I'm concerned, if you're in "sales" but there's no commission then its literally no different than being the guy at Best Buy who answers your questions about which tv is better than rings up the purchase. You're an order taker, not a sales person. Because there is no incentive to sell.

Less stress, more consistent motivation compared to a roller coaster, if the base is good I can see a lot of people preferring it

Less stress for the employee. Everyone says budget on your base but very little people do. So people arenโ€™t going to buy something expensive because they are about to win a deal but then falls through

Also quality of work goes up. Most creative thinking gets hampered when money is involved, money helps motivate repetitive tasks.

It's pretty motivating when you need to make the mortgage payment. I mean, if the base is enough for a good life, then you're going down that "non-commissioned sales rep" route that some local jewelers employ. But it's definitely a motivator for me.

If the base is decent I would do it. I donโ€™t really love the variation in income. However it should a around the same number as with commish

What is the sales cycle looking like? Is the ramp up time frame really long? Are they going to renegotiate your contract/salary after a year for base + Commission?

If you aren't going to make a sales for 6 months - a year I can understand the high base and no commission. They want their sales people to stay and not jump ship for that first year or tow or growth.
