Reaching out to a prospect for them to fill out a demo form

hey Savages,

I am working a deal for a prospect that I found outbound and emailed but instead of replying or telling me to gtfo they went to our site and booked a demo on our form. At my company we have an inbound and outbound quota, and I was hoping this would count as outbound but my manager is telling me because they filled out the form it is in fact, inbound.

I'm curious if there's a right answer in this or if it's up to interpretation. I'm obviously biased, but I think it should count as outbound because he's opened my emails.

in your org, does this count and inbound or outbound?

Inbound requests as a result of outbound activity still count as outbound. Those who say otherwise are marketers.

Outbound activity that results in inbound requests is marketing.

In my experience as long as there was outbound activity prior to the inbound then it would still qualify as an outbound lead.

My manager would say this counts as outbound because they could have been influenced by your outbound outreach to go & fill out a form

Outbound. They visited your site because of your effort.

Not sure how it works for you but if my outreach was to the same person who signed up in my web and I reached out before he signed up, I would ask my manager to assign it to me.

Outbound..would they have come to your company website if not for your outbound activity?

I mean I guess I could understand why it would be inbound if it was a huge company and it was a completely different business unit that reached out? but.. if not, this should definitely be outbound.

Counts at outbound but have to fight the inbound team and prove it was my work that got it there

Outbound for sure. They didn't discover your website organically. They discovered it because you reached out.

Your outreach prompted the lead form, no reason this should be inbound.

This says "reaching OUT", which is the first word in OUTbound. Take the credit for being a prospecting gangster

Urgh, ‘they opened my email’ get a proper job I say. (As in marketing)

Additionally, marketing tracked these leads from direct meetings via the website calendar - they’d then announce a direct meeting for us to go…no…I literally just told them to? But apparently marketing for some odd reason is deemed a higher worth sometimes!
