Read receipt

Do y’all ever use read receipt when sending an email to a prospect after an initial cold call conversation (after you have confirmed they are actually interested in receiving it and not just doing it out of obligation or to get you off the phone - shout out all my Sandler Savages out here 😉)?

I typically don’t BUT I do ask them to shoot me a reply back (nothing fancy, just a “got it” is fine) so I “know it didn’t get caught up in spam or something.” I do this because in my line of work (AE @ a head hunting agency) commitment and quick response is VITAL and it helps me gage how interested they are (if they respond or not and how quickly if they do). I know it’s not fool proof (people get busy). But if they can’t do a simple reply, it says a lot IMO. Is this a tactic anyone else uses?

I use HubSpot, so I know the moment they open something, the device they used and where they were.

I’ve never heard of this!! Sounds very useful though. Any more info/insight you can share regarding it?

It’s their email tracking tool. I don’t have a ton of other insight except that it works and can be incredibly helpful when tracking down a prospect that’s gone dark. Send them a bump and call the moment they open the email.

I get this to an extent. I know that people aren't the biggest Josh Braun fans on here, but his message to detach has helped me a lot. I don't need to know if someone reads my emails, stress about responses that don't happen, etc. If I can make a genuine connection or get someone excited, they will reach back out. If not, I am missing the mark, not them.

Interesting. I've never heard of this tactic before. I always send a follow-up email recapping our conversation and then what potential next steps look like or could look like. If they don't reply then that's how I know they are not serious.

Recap is great! If I can offer some unsolicited advice lol…I would suggest trying to confirm next steps (typically not a full close though, maybe just a follow up call or confirmation when to touch base again) while on the phone. 😊

Love the recommendation part and giving them a few options. People love having options to make them feel like they are in control

I only send read receipts when I'm sending numbers or a high importance recap with next steps.
