Recession prepare for the worst ?

What can we be expecting moving forward with the Companies slowing down on Hiring and downsizing?

In my opinion, looks like a scarce market under the market conditions and should be expecting a rebound before the biggest Crash in history.

I know this is silly to ask but how can we prepare for our Careers?

BTW I'm GenZ so seeing everything that is going on at the moment is an amazing opportunity but as well scary as shit!

Seems like almost every market is getting hit.

Would love feedback has been difficult for me to land a Job due to market conditions

Recessions are where fortunes are made. Instinct will tell you to play financial defense but this is when you should be playing as much offense as you can.

I would generally agree. I would define โ€œplaying offenseโ€ as still investing in the stock market and not switching your portfolio to all โ€œsafeโ€ investments. This is coming from a millennial who is not tryin to live off their investments for a while

Agree what about when it comes to a Job ?

Is there any product that are better recession proof than others ?

For example i used to work at a jewelry store at the mall before covid . Once Covid came thy layed people off due to the restrictions in California.

Told myself i will never get a Job thats so reliant on BS politics

yeah its easier to give examples of job NOT to take....i would say any sort of job in a mall is not a good one.

im in software as a service so im a little biased but it does seem like an industry as a whole that will continue to do well. But then its about the product within.

Marketing technology is one that always suffers in hard times. companies always cut marketing budgets first it feels like.

Also, i have a feeling that account managers or those that help renew customers will make it through hard times better than AEs who only bring in new business since its more expensive to bring on a new client than it is to get a new one.

Just what @TennisandSalessaid. Investing in the stock market and not throwing all of your focus into "safe" investments.

As far as career safety, you have to be irriplaceable (be the best) or find an industry you believe to be recession proof or less likely to effected.

But the best thing you can do is make sure you are living within your means, and have a safety net

Taking a high road here, I don't think there is any recession.

There usually are multiple 'recession threats', have been in the past too. Can't say if there would be an actual recession coming in anytime soon or not. Wait it out. Don't act on it just yet.

โ€œBe so good they canโ€™t ignore youโ€ (Steve Martin I believe). Seriously though, you know who isnโ€™t worried about downturns in the economy, the sellers who is fucking GREAT. The one who puts in the extra work, the scripting, the reps and reps and reps, the prospecting, who has 2x more pipeline at all times than any other rep. You wanna prepare your career - be that seller.

Recessions and market downturns are what separate the wheat from the chaff.

Keep yourself very organized and maintain a long term perspective on deals and pipeline. If youโ€™re concerned about layoffs, always keep an updated resume and a few feelers out there
