Bravado VS Reddit

I've seen this comparison a lot. Essentially comparing the War Room to r/Sales on Reddit.

I'm a big Reddit browser but I barely make any posts. I do check out the occasional r/Sales thread that catches my eye but I'm more content being part of the audience with Reddit. It doesn't draw me in to be an active contributor like the War Room does.

Would you guys say the biggest difference is the gamification of this platform with the 'commission' incentive? Just curious to compare both discussion boards a little deeper.

What's your take on this?

@GeneralCorpย and I spent a long time thinking through this. Here's how we planned it out... with the whole caveat of "everyone's got a plan til you get punched in the mouth."

LinkedIn: Fluffy. Also because it's tied to your professional identity, you can't ever ask real questions or get real advice. Like imagine your boss screws you on commission on a deal. You're not gonna post that on LNKD, cuz the customer will see / your boss will fire you / etc. But that's a REAL problem...and we wanted to build a place where you could get real advice.ย

Reddit: Unfocused. There's so much random content around sales that is completely unapplicable to SaaS, tech, enterprise, etc. We want this to be a place for all sellers eventually, but with a focus around B2B sales. Also, there's so much complaining and negativity. And don't forget the Incels.ย

@sahilย whatโ€™s your view on managing duplicate posts? I feel like thatโ€™s going to be a challenge on this platform.

Great question @CadenceCombatย . The answer is gonna revolve around using topics, clustering, and auto-grouping of content. We've got some things in the works, but it's early RN.

Are you finding things to be redundant?ย

@sahilย Like I said further down, if I have to see another post titled something like "Is cold calling REALLY dead?", I'll have no choice but to do nothing and get real pouty about it.ย

Im actually okay with duplicate posts at times because you'll often get different answers and things do change. If its incessant repeats then I'll take some action but for now, people NEED ANSWeRS. Oh, and we'll eventually be building a wiki/best-of answers type bank of resources so peopel can search before they ask.

@GeneralCorpย Love it. Now put those goddamn motorcycle golf carts on the Commission Exchange. Daddy needs a new hog.

Shout out to Casino.

I find reddit has this laissez-faire approach regarding posts/comments, whereas Bravado monitors compliance with the community rules.
Same here. I'm more active here than I do in reddit because of the quality of conversations, IMO.

Yea I made this comparison the format looks the same. Gamification of this, and a bit of the exclusivity as well. Reddit everything goes there.ย

Plus being managed by a company that is incentivised to keep it going for the purpose of sales is a whole different ball game than a company just caring about content creation.ย

Im looking forward for the mentorship, the portfolio. I think this can grow to be counter-linked in but with the anonymity. My take though

I don't know if it's the gamification, or the vetting of accounts. Vetting the accounts avoids some of the issues of LinkedIn and Reddit.

LinkedIn is so useless now because everyone in sales who spends enough time on LinkedIn eventually thinks they're an influencer. Lack of anonymity also makes you second guess what you're commenting on, or asking for feedback on.ย

r/sales is a trap for people who have no clue what they're talking about. Anonymity on there creates toxicity that favors the echo chamber effect.ย

I 100% agree this site should have a vetting process to join to eliminate a lot of that crap you see on Reddit and LinkedIn.ย

I agree and we should probably up the gamification part to incentivize more engagementย ย

I like bravado so far. Reddit can sometimes be shit posts. You can filter through and find some good content but I find that this platform is adding more value and focusย

Yeah, I think the biggest hurdle for me with this platform is how duplicate posts are managed and filtered.

If I see another post with a title similar to โ€œIs cold calling REALLY dead?โ€, Iโ€™ll have no choice but to do nothing and get real pouty about it.

Thatโ€™s a pretty solid critique - dip posts of the same topic that was posted a few hours agoย
