Yes, definitely. What could go wrong? Assume they're your ride or die best friend, even when they're firing u.

It’s important to remember that bosses and companies don’t care about you. Bosses will bury you to save themselves and companies chug along. Act and behave accordingly.

Lesson learned for sure. I will NEVER let something like that happen again. Pieces of shit.

Arm's length with all of them.   Always.   But that's true of my relationships with most work colleagues anyway.   We get along but are not besties.

Should you treat your boss like your best friend? Yes. Should they be your best friend? No.

I did not fire someone I should have fired and she went on to be two more managers' problem. I learned my lesson.

ya sometimes you gotta just bite the bullet. Firing him was one of the better decisions I have made.

I thought I had a better relationship with my boss to the point that if my job was ever in jeopardy that she would of told me. That was farthest from the truth, she always gave me positive reinforcement and always said I was doing a great job and what an asset I was to the company and then without any inclination she cut me off at the head. Lesson learned for sure.

So the story is you have been fired from your job, but you didn't expect it because you thought you'd have at least a heads up from your manager?

I'm sorry that happened.  Were you given any reason why?

I think yes. At my previous job, I thought my boss hated me half of the month. Everyone else insisted that he liked me, and I was like “he tolerates me at best because I ask too many questions,” and I sincerely believed that. I also liked the guy very much, he was - and still is - my idol tbh. I would constantly pester him for feedback, and he gave me some very valuable feedback, in such amazing ways I’m still thankful. For our company, getting fired is an extreme, tho. I didn’t have that worry. I left the company in the past year, for reasons unrelated to him. The only reason I’d consider going back would be the opportunity of working with him again. But, I admit I’m in the minority, and I am very lucky. *knocks on wood*

The only sales guy
This one’s tough. I’ve seen it both ways, that being said, even with reps I’m close with, that shit stays out of the office. I’ll grill them as hard as the next guy, but we’ll go out for drinks and leave it at the office.
